Survival Cache : 5 Ideas for Fire Tinder

This last winter I was experimenting with different fire tenders when I came up with the idea to take one of my wife's UNUSED tampons and soaked it in canned inferno. It took one strike with my fire steel and instant flame that lasted a long time. So I cut up the remainder and packed it into a waterproof match case. A couple of months later I went kayaking. When we stopped for a break we decided to start a fire. So I used my little experiment. It didn't work. I even tried a lighter on it and it wouldn't light. So next time I am going to make it the night before and try it again. If it works, lesson learned. Just thought I would share.

Survival Cache : The Parry Blade: Survival Gear Review for 2020

Well, that is why I like reading reviews so I can find a few I like. Right now I use a free knife I received from North American Hunting Club, and two other knives I found at a gun show. The one is Frost Cutlery knife and there is no name on the other one just made in Taiwan. For the most part they do the job. The NAHC knife is a folding knife which I use for trap making, which I am horrible at, and small jobs for improvised weapons or tools. The Frost Cutlery knife I use for field dressing animals, and the other NO name knife I use for splitting dry wood or smaller chopping jobs. I realize one knife is preferred, but I like to have a back up. Like I said I have been kicking around a few different ones and would like to eventually find one that I like.

Survival Cache : The Parry Blade: Survival Gear Review for 2020

I have been into survival mode for the last 5 years, and within the last year or two I have been putting what I have studied and learned from the net, to practical use. I have been fiddling around with a bunch of different knives and machetes. I agree that spending a little extra money on a good quality knife is well worth it, however, I don't think I would spend hundreds of dollars on a knife. Instead, I would rather carry 2 or 3 different knives and each one would be different and each one would have a different purpose. I love the reviews on knives regardless of price or size. Reason being, it gives me insight and other peoples perspectives on the functionality of a knife and things they use it for or what the design of the knife is intended to be used for. Thanks for the review on the Parry blade.

Survival Cache : The Survival Edibility Test (Before You Swallow)

Have you ever considered an outdoor seminar to help teaching others about identifying these plants? You seem very knowledgeable about plants and how to cook them. Others may know how to cook but others may not. Some might know how to identify plants and others may not. If you could do both you could help one survive. Just a suggestion. I also agree with Josh. Wow. very nice.
