Not really but our troops could work around the issues of language pretty quickly if they lived with the villagers as described in COIN doctrine. You may want to look up on Google "Jim Gant COIN" and also "FM 3 - 24" for current info regarding COIN and how it works in theory.

Stryker's ride in big heavy armored vehicles that isolate the troops from the population and get stuck allot in sand and mud. While this is good for IED it does no good in implementation of COIN which is a get to know your neighbor strategy, face to face contact.

Yes I would if women in this country were forced to wear a Burka and school children had acid thrown in their faces by the Taliban for going to school. If those foreign troops goal was to stop this type of Taliban perverted evil.

I have no issue in bashing our President for due cause. The fact is very few Troops are trained in COIN strategy or tactics in Afghanistan. As you point to the Mil-Blogs and read in detail our Generals are not trained in COIN nor are most the Command Officers or NCO's. COIN AKA FM 3-24 just came out fully approved in 2009. I do not believe even General McCrystal is trying to implement a pure COIN strategy.

As far as Afghans speaking Pashto or Afghan Persian, you left out the other 11 languages spoken in Afghanistan. So the 5th Stryker is going in with virtually the same training as any other unit had that proceeded them. Can we train our military better before being deployed, You Betcha we can but so far that has not happened yet. It has been on the job training, and due to our Great service members they fill in the gaps pretty darn good. Now if we could just get the commanders to let the men really deploy COIN we could have major positive impact in Afghanistan in 2 years.

We will never know that answer or understand what great inventions have been missed. I may disagree with our President but I sure am glad his mother made a choice and gave Barry Soetoro a chance to excel in life.

Pam Tebow made a choice to allow her pregnancy to come too full term and had a son, named him Tim. Many women have made a choice to have an abortion and had no chance to watch a son our daughter excel in life. I wonder who wakes up with nightmares due to their choice more, Tim's Mom or the women who choose abortion.
