Would just like to add, Michael had so much charisma, far beyond most of his contemporaries. We were so charmed and starstruck, it was nearly impossible for us to believe that he could do these things. (As someone pointed out, Gary Glitter on the other hand was always somewhat scary.) But in later years, as he disfigured himself more and more, it was evident that this was an individual with some complex inner demons. In many ways I felt that he summed up the fractured and fragmented era that he inhabited, and lost himself along the way. It's not a subject most of us like to deal with, but maybe there should be more awareness, and this may teach us all something.

Oh well, I guess that this is between him and God now. Thank you for your work Diane.

Well. I was a fan of MJ early on. What an awful flaw for such a landslide talent, because he really did have the world at his feet.

In light of all this, in my attempts to understand it, I've been trying to read up on paedophilia and its supposed causes. Jackson certainly seems to fit a lot of the profile. Arrested emotional development. Insecurity and interpersonal difficulties in adult relationships and etc. I've read the account of his 'first target' from 1979, which seems to indicate that he had a pattern throughout his adult life of this behaviour, as is the case with most paedophilia, and it was exacerbated at times of psychosocial stress - also another common feature. Based on my reading.

One thing, however, which is a question most often asked and I still don't totally understand: how could a parent accept money instead of justice in court? I know if it happened to a child of mine, I would do anything to ensure it did not happen to another.
