I agree we seek the same remedy, however, you are neglecting the extent as to which the GOP will go to block any and everything this administration does. Yes, if it comes down to it, I expect the recess block to continue right on through the holidays, Christmas included. It is not unprecedented.

Apparently you missed the part about the filibuster in civics. If they won't recess and continue to obstruct, how do you suggest the President do a recess appointment?

...suggesting Boehner can block a recess, even of the senate.

There is one alternative that AKAIK has never been used...

Article II, section 3, clause 3 of the Constitution states that the President on extraordinary Occasions, can convene both Houses, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper. He can force both chambers to recess, but this seems a perilous and risky endeavor.

Senate Republicans have suggested they won't recess. Perhaps calling the GOP and telling them to stop being obstructionists and acting like little babies would be in order.
