South Park has always bee on the border of controversial episodes and jokes. They have a reputation for poking fun at the topics that everyone else is afraid to even consider talking about. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have always been on the hot seat. They produced a “scientology” episode in which they lost an actor (chef) because of their offensive position regarding the topic. They ridiculed the leaders of the organization of scientology and the beliefs and doctrines as well. They have also had the media on their back when the touched the controversial topic of assisted suicide; something that Jack Kevorkian was imprisoned for committing. South park had also Taken the stand against terrorism when they released Imagination Land episodes and movies where they had a Suicide Bomber blow up the scene of all the imaginations of our world. Another memorable episode was the “shit” count episode where they dropped the s word 162 times in 28 minutes. They received negative remarks from the LGBT community when they had the same-sex gay bashing episode with Big Gay Al. The latest of the controversial topics occurred April 21 2010 when the studio decided to depict Muhammad in an episode.
The episode received many threats from Islamic terrorist groups to censor the show. And although Trey Parker and Matt Stone did not want to comply, the network took the upper hand and made censorship in response to the terroristic threats that they had received on the masses. The studio even bleeped out the name “Muhammad” every time it was said in order to not offend the Islam People. However, this isn’t the only time that the creators have decided to include the islam prophet in their show. In the past they have proposed to show the prophet and have receive the same threats. They ended up putting Muhammad in a Bear costume to avoid the threats that they had received from islam activists.
I find that the entire idea of not depicting the prophet is far’fetched however I can not be one to judge nor criticize since I have no involvement with the religion. But the idea that everyone on the planet has to abide by the rules of your holy book is ignorant in my mind. No islam should depict the prophet but why does that have to aply to the atheists. You want to talk about forcing your religion on others, the Islamic world is doing so when they prevent others from depicting what they do not believe in. It is a hot and heated topic so it will always grow tension and I know one day that someone is going t make the mistake of not censoring and there will be retaliation.

The initial response of the entire thought exercise was that of confusion. However, I actually put down my objections and opened my eyes and mind to the exercise. After looking at it from the point of view of an Arab Muslim I too understand their motives. I was among the 60% that confessed to a will to join an insurgent group.
If the people and civilians of my home town, my sister, brothers, mother and father were all getting attacked by what appeared to be Christian crusaders, I would with no doubt in my mind, take up arms and do whatever I must to protect my home town and the lives of my own blood. It is a shame in my opinion that the entire world is corrupt. When a holy war is erupted over the entire idea of oil and personal and national need.
When the political masterminds of the United States announce that the war is a crusade, they really do open up Pandora’s box itself and the entire world will feel the pain inflicted by the desires of a few men. There are a vast amount of people who are feeling the affects of the US war on Oil. When Sam showed the Jihad video it truly frightened me that the entire organization is set out now to attack ALL that are not islam. It is truly horrific to think what people who are driven can do with their power and money. There have been way to many civilian casualites from American wars, islam jihad, and insurgents in the middle east. This war is attacking the world instead of the countries involved. The globa economy is impacted every day by the decisions of the powerhouse of the US.
I personally am in complete shame to see the things that my democratically elected officials are doing. The United States in my mind is going to complete shit. I should just pack my shit up and move to spain before we see the shit show that we are setting ourselves up for. As a whole I can say that the United States has been playing the role of the play ground bully too long and that role is something that is always ended. Every bully is bound to see their reign end and I hope that it does not happen soon for the sake of my own life. I would love to be able to get out of the United State, but personally I am just afraid to go to a different country without the necessary background needed to succeed out on my own. I hope the the world can find peace somewhere, some how, but the greed of a few people are going to prevent the ambitions of world peace.

And that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Entering into a race relation course I was skeptical about what the teacher would be like and whether or not racial tension would arise. However, much to my liking this course is more than just “this race that race” type of material. Instead, Sam offers a mundane insight how one thought, can be viewed in many different lights. Instead of just describing slavery, he makes it know at all aspects and truly makes an effort to exemplify the global pandemic.
Although some of the word choice of Sam’s may be controversial, he said so at the beginning of the course that he is a “knucklehead” and he doesn’t give a shit. And truthfully, he’s right. Actions speak louder than words and you cannot argue that someone who phrases their ideas in a “bizarre” way does not still get the point across. As a student and a citizen of this WORLD I am highly offended by this asshole’s comment about not changing any opinion.
In order to truly say that you have not altered a single opinion makes you either ignorant and arrogant, or the smartest person in the class. Surely you were not aware to the complexity of the racial world around you. And if it truly doesn’t bother you that people are being treated the way that they are. Then you need to open your eyes, and take a closer look. It is by CHANCE that you were LUCKY to be one of the well off americans who aren’t forced into labor or beaten. What if the role was reverse, rewind your clock to the hour you were born, and instead of coming out of your mother’s womb you came out of an African slave or thai prostitute. Would you not grow up to hope for the same pity and desire the same RESCUE that you refuse to acknowledge in your perfect unaffected world.
“Anything he said this semester does not make a difference to me...” I mean honestly, Don’t talk. Actually, just sign your name and walk out. If his words don’t make a difference to you then leave. Obviously his tests make a difference to you. So indeed what he does say does matter in that sense to you. The man has his opinions, and also his facts, maybe you should stop chattering and pay more attention and get a more general sense of what is going on. He is not here to change your opinions, but rather give you the opportunity to think about them, and reconsider the alternatives to given scenarios.
It’s all good though this world is full of ignorant and arrogant assholes so I should just be used to it. Just pains me to see the fact that even when presented with the fact people still feel the need to neglect the pure evil and corruption of the world and not think about the bigger picture. That’s just selfish and egocentric.

I watched this video and immediately knew where this guy was coming from. I myself have sat straddling the fence and hopping back and forth. Truthfully being Spanish but looking white allows me to jump back and fun and play on both teams. IT is quite interesting being able to look at the perspectives of both sides and I welcome the opportunity to see the grass on both sides of the field.
I am Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Philippine. However my appearance has had many people confuse me as an Italian and my accent can be confused with a New York accent. Therefore most of my life, I have been treated as if I were a Caucasian. I have been able to blend into the white crowds with my appearance and also been able to use my last name to gain acceptance into minority groups as well.
Many people would say that this is very two faced and it is not good to ride the fence. However I would argue that it is a good way to live. Since I am not too radical in myself I am able to view people both how they act towards all types of races. I have noticed that many people adjust they way they act based on the audience or crowd that they are around. This is very common in today’s society of political correctness and racial sensitivity.
Back on the topic of the video, the guy was confused which team he should actually support. And I guess my response is to go where you feel most comfortable. In all reality though I don’t believe there are truly teams. They are just groups. If you feel more in touch with your Spanish heritage than go on the brown and black side and live your life over there. If you feel more inclined to stay white, than join the white side. And if possible it wouldn’t be a bad idea to just hop back and forth in order to reap the benefits of both worlds. For instance, if you know a particular individual of power is prejudice in favor or white people, than you can play the white game, and vice a versa. This is how I like to play it since I think the entire race war that we face in this world is ridiculous. It is very much just a game that the two sides play and it symbolizes how far we have NOT come.
All and all your race does not generally determine what side you pick. You can both be born into a group just as well as you can opt to join or exclude yourself from a group. Black brown nor white are not things that are force on you you’re entitled to your own opinion and interpretation of facts.

16 years ago @ Race Relations Project - If men could menstruat... · 0 replies · +1 points

It is absurd to think that tampons would be free if men menstruated. Nothing in this world is free. Water, food, and shelter are all necessities for man, however all of which have a price tag. Same would be so for tampons. Men need condoms, are they free? Not unless you’re walking through the HUB on the right day. It is not a matter of Sex and any female that says so is just ignorant. I have much respect for females when they aren’t spitting out ridiculous ass accusations of a MAN’s world. When push comes to shove some people and genders were made to do different tasks then other, it’s biological, not sexist. However why am I even entertaining the idea. I know that in the real world men really don’t even care. They will continue to mask their opinions and mute their voices in order to maintain their manly image and their superiority. Regardless of the opposition’s argument, there is not point men will stand strong and won’t change much. That’s just the way it is. Its sad to say, but it’s more then true.
When I think about what it means to be a man, I think of Rocco’s Man Speech in Boondock Saints 2: All Saint’s Day, “… Don’t smoke, don’t drive fast, Kiss my ass! Fuck it do it all I say, do you think duke wayne spent all his time talking about his feelings to a fucking therapist, There’s no fucking way he did. John Wayne died with 5 pounds of undigested red meat in his ass, now that’s a man. Real Men hide their feelings, why? Because it’s none of your fucking business! Men do not cry, men do not pout, Men jack you in the fucking jaw and say, Thanks for coming out.” If you haven’t seen the movie, at least look up the speech itself, its very much so closer to the truth than anything else I’ve ever seen depicted. I give complete credit to Troy Duffy and his producers for such an accurate scene.
Back on the idea of a period. Lets just agree not to talk about it in a public setting. Sure it’s a natural occurrence but so is vomiting, shitting, and pissing. However, we don’t go around shitting wherever we please now do we? As a matter of fact, there are laws against such, grotesque actions. Just because it happens against your will doesn’t mean we would love to hear about it. Keep your personal life and the contents between your legs to yourself. Unless you do enjoy spreading your legs to the lot of the community, then I can’t help you. All in all, if you think it MIGHT be inappropriate to talk about, then it probably is. Trust me, men know all about it. We just choose not to discuss it.

A school has the audacity to cancel a prom due to a conflict with sexual orientation. What kind of bullshit is that? I understand the idea of tradition and the principle of the matter. However, the superintendant and the head of the school board must be reprimanded for such an ignorant action. First off, next to graduation, Prom, and the weekend that follows, is one of the most memorable times of a high school student’s four year commitment. To even attempt to regulate the sexual orientations and the rules as to whom you can choose to share this experience with is absurd. Regardless if a student is openly gay, or just inviting a same-sex friend to get them in the prom with them with no intimacy at all, this is not up to the school to determine. The protocol of age requirements and out-of-school district forms and liability forms are all reasonable. However, what justification do you give for limiting student’s choices?
The protection of the student body has always put the school board on the hot seat. However, what the fuck? If two lesbians show up at a prom, who are they going to offend? Who are they going to hurt? Who is really going to give a fuck?
I am interested to see what will happen to this school. The reaction of the student body is going to be huge. The parents may take their stand, but ultimately what matters is the reaction of the students. If anything, I would not expect less of a complete riot out of this outrageous response to the request for a same-sex date. Constance was not wrong in her position for looking into her own interest. She is interested in her life choice and her own high school memory. Her school mates may or may not say something or react negatively towards her. However, anyone who chooses to retaliate against her is inconsiderate and selfish.
I would love to see this same scenario happen in my hometown. I am 100% positive that if such an absurd response was given and a prom was canceled due to a school board’s prejudice there would be shootings and massive threats all over the place. My high school would have to cancel school for a week until the tensions cooled off. It is so pathetic how far we have come, yet how much further we must go. We have integrated races and done a lot to fight the race war. However, now we’re entering a new age in which we chastise LGBTs? It is moments like this that just have me shaking my head in complete disappointment to human beings everywhere. How can you be so fucking inconsiderate?

In his letter to the Birmingham Jail Martin Luther King Jr. Stated, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
This quote reminds us of our moral obligation to prevent injustice from taking place in order to attempt to preserve the moral and sanctified position of justice everywhere. The injustices practiced by many across the world upon members of every society have been direct and indirect attacks upon what we know and call justice. Our responsibility is to speak out against these travesties and to do our best to prevent them in future scenarios.
However, this is easier said than done. The question, “is it my place?” Has always been tossed around as a justification to help dwindle the guilt experienced by by-standers who are too chicken-shit to do anything when they can see an out right injustice being committed. This world is full of excuses as to why nothing can get accomplished and this is true in the aspect of injustice hindering justice. If everyone would just say NO to injustice, it would not be around. However, instead of standing up for what is morally right and going against the morally wrong. People choose to alter their actions to satisfy the socially right; ignoring the wrong doings and just staying quiet and looking the other way.
Instead of standing up for what people believe in they alter their emotions and actions because they are more concerned as to the opinions that others will have about them. People refuse to stand against their own opinions to satisfy others, these people have no courage, and that is why no one will remember their names.
One may argue that since it is an issue so big, what can one person even do to change it. This is explained but the simple idea of a butterfly effect. One person’s actions can be magnified by others following or helping out in return. One random act of kindness can lead to someone else passing it on and doing an act of kindness for another person. When Rosa Parks decided to take a seat, she did something that sparked a community. Everyone saw the tension, however no one wanted to be the catalyst that actually set ablaze the fires that would consume the race wars as she did. King and Malcolm X both alike stood up for what they believe in and did so in their own manner. Anyone who disagrees with their actions are entitled to their opinions. However, at the very least, these two men need to be commemorated for actually taking a stand and doing something. All that counts is not whether or not you saw an injustice, but instead, what you do about it once you notice it.

I can not imagine what it would be like to be the last remaining member of my language or culture. At least I can take some pride in knowing I made it that much furthur than everyone else. However, can you imagine trying to learn English then if your only relation to it is words that no one else can relate to. It would be rather hard to get a grasp of any conversation and you’d probably feel very alone and almost exiled. One of the worst things to do to someone is to exile them socially.
It is amazing though that the Bo language had lived so long. However, I do not understand what could possibly have lead to the seizure of its teaching. I guess they just stopped teaching it instead of more popular languages in an attempt to adjust to the world around them. Boa Sr. Represented the last bit of an entire culture and that’s something to be proud and interested in. I hope that this story does not disappear under another headline because it is very interesting about how a culture can die out.
It becomes an eye opener that just because something has been around for so long, does not necessarily mean that it will remain in existence just because of its tenure. It is sad to think about the time and lives of the Bo people and everything they may have ever played in a role in. There is now no trace of their history, no record of what they have done and have not. They truly did just disappear off the earth. Their accomplishment as a people has now been forgotten and they are just a folklore or a “remember when” comment. After thousands of years of inhabit ting this earth, these people are now gone, much like dinosaurs and the Jurassic period.
Should this event lead one ot believe that it is possible for any modern day culture to just become obsolete and die out. I do not think so. I feel like the world as a whole is as advanced as its going to get and everyone seems to be on the right page. In my own personal opinion I believe that the cultures of the world will be here forever. Just as long as there is no natural or man made catastrophe that leads to the complete demise of a race or group of people that do not travel at all. However, there will always be some trace of every race to every country no matter how far or how long it may take to develop. I am saddened by the loss of the Bo people but do not think it is something that will happen again in the near future.

So a movie goes out and dominates the box office. Topping sales of all previous competition after only 6 weeks on the big screen. And instead of glorifying and respecting the ten years of effort and hard work that people put into it, people chose to chastise this special effects masterpiece. The film is a great movie with a lot to be said using symbols and metaphors. It is also a movie using action and characters. Just because one character is white, and the other is black, doesn’t mean anything. The sole intension of the movie was not to point out that either race is superior or inferior. The point was to make money. There have been many movies where blacks have prevailed. Look at I Am Legend. Will Smith, black man, lived when all else don’t. House on Haunted Hill, A horror movie where the white chick and black guy actually live, that almost never happens in horror flicks. Normally the black guy is the one that has an attitude and goes and gets himself killed. While the white girl runs upstairs instead of out the front door. Needless to say, the gender nor race of a casting decision is not necessarily indicative of what role they will play in a motion picture.
It is absurd to relate any and everything to race. I don’t mean to be ignorant to the fact that racial tension does exist. It has been around since the beginning of time. However to extent at which people are persecuted and accused for racial inconsideration is ridiculous. That being said, I support the movie avatar it was an amazing film. It will go down in theatrical history and be paired up with the other revolutionary greats like Star Wars. Which also had a conflicting racial issue. Luke Skywalker and every other Jedi Knight was white, while Darth Vader, although white inside his costumed, wore black. But still over time the racial implication will inevitability fade and the films true form will be acknowledge for its true theatrical greatness.
Other than race, the Pope took a jab at Cameron’s Avatar when he implied that it was pushing on the idea of nature and didn’t support the holy spirit. This is retarded to say the least. Avatar did not claim or will never claim to be a religious motion picture. It was not like Passion of the Christ, it was more like a Movie about smurfs in a Ferngully Environment/situation. All in all the movie is great. If you can take the time out to see it, its like three hours long, then you should definitely do so. If you wait until it hits Blockbuster, you should by a blue ray player and rent it as a blueray.
