Your absolutely correct Jack! And apparently I'm one of the least cool people in the world! I work out, eat red meat, use Opera over FireFox, own a $499 Toshiba laptop that is more than twice as powerful than the iPad, use Windows 7 by choice, use a crappy MS Zune(I got it for free) which I'll be replacing with a Creative Zen X-Fi2, drink brewed sweet tea over herbal green tea, drive a crappy S10 that will be replaced with a used 2002+ Jaguar XJR(hopefully within the next 3 years), and I don't have any plans to change.
I really really want to like it, but it just looks so mismatched. I like the headlights, just not on the A8; I like the fenders, just not on the A8; I like the grille, just not on the A8. It's like everything is slightly off. Even if they nailed it in standard Audi styling fashion, I'm not sure that it would look as good as the stately 7 Series or the swooping S-Class. The fact that they seemingly dropped the ball with this confused design, though, just hurts it more.
@Byrone: Too conservatively styled? Maybe in the automotive world as a whole, but this is a very risky, cutting edge design for Audi! lol
What, you don't believe him? Those pelicans can be real assholes man!
I mean, never mind that he's driving an AWD, 16 cylinder, quad turbo, 1000HP, 250MPH car...
Quite the article, as usual, Rob! Now THIS is the poor mans racing that I've been looking for! Autocross can only be so fun, what with running one car at a time.
Now all we need is Pro Solo RallyCross, then we'll be talking!!!
UGH. SO SICK of the new Camaro. Thanks for ruining it, GM, by flaunting your concept car around for like 5 years. I couldn't own a new Camaro, no matter how good it may be, simply because I couldn't look at it sitting in my driveway every day. Now the '10 Mustang on the other hand looks very fresh, slender, and athletic.
Send it on over to Jack and have him drive it down to Newark, so that I can give a very valuable outsiders opinion! It'll bring in lots of site hits, just trust me on this :-Þ
You know, it just so happens that I should be getting a new vehicle within the next couple weeks(Jeep Cherokee to long arm, 35, and wheel the crap out of!), so I might just have to scrape some cash together to hit up some LeMons in my(hopefully) freshly replaced vehicle! Granted, it IS a Geo TRAHKAH, but their can't possibly be a cooler vehicle to run in LeMons either! Get some lo-pro tires, maybe hack 3 or so coils out of the springs, and hope for the best!!! I will do this before I die!!!
Loved it!!! Great writing, epic amounts of drama that ALMS could never posess, and, best of all, it's about cars! Each time Jack has mentioned something about the Neon in his articles, I was always waiting for that little bit more of depth in the story, and now I'm finally getting it! Can't wait for more!
Alright, I'm calling it, this doesn't count!!! If there isn't a potential* to lay some strips of tire on the ground(or atleast dig some ditches in the dirt), then I'm claiming it doesn't count.
*I know, your Grandma's 1.8l Cadillac Cimarron can't really spin the tires, but you should be driving a vehicle that can in the first place. Thus, potential.
That being said, I may just have to get into some slot car racing...
Needs more 440 6-pack under the hood!
