Seems you don't quite understand what is happening here, Capt. If the state doesn't increase the schools by 2% then the schools will have the RIGHT to RAISE your proerty taxes to cover what they need. So either the state pays or the property owners do. How do you want it done??
Did you READ the article?? The leadership he is bring in are from DC and Chicago. Is this the direction we want our educational system to go in? Believe it or not our teachers do really care about the children they are teaching. The gov't red tape sometimes seems to tie their hands. I appreciate that you both seem involved in your kids education the main problem is that there are alot of parents out there that seem to think their only responsibility is to drop the child off. Somehow the phrase "IT TAKES A VILLAGE" seems to have turned into a "WHO CAN WE BLAME ?" game. Stop looking for a scape goat and look for a solution. Don't forget change will require funding...which is something Braindead doesn't want to do.
I remeber how Braindead reacted in 1993 when CR flooded and the corps recommended flood mitigation then.........HE DID NOTHING!! Figure it out on your own. Foundation wall fall in? Find the money to fix it yourself!

I think I will be voting against this. I can already foresee that the school district is going to be asking for more money again and with the property taxes continually going up I think I want my penny back!
