Oh, wait, I remember, if the comment is too long, it just ignores it. I just realized it because the above comment was incomplete. Here's the tail end.

As for allergies, I have to tell you that removal of carpet from my house and installation of good filters on my ancient AC system has done wonders for those of us (all adults or teens) sensitive to them. Just sayin'.

MUST stop being so long-winded.

According to the NYT this morning, there are flu cases in camps all over the country (but particularly Maine). Often dozens.

I don't volunteer. It doesn't hurt that I'm painfully antisocial and don't join pretty much any organizations, but I have no trouble saying no. I have a job. I have a family. I have twenty hobbies that are all time consuming. I require a modicum of time where I'm doing none of that.

Volunteering just isn't a reasonable option.

I hope flit reads this.

I remember my first husband's reaction when I told him I'd started my period that morning. He was, "Oh, ok. So, wanna have sex?"

"You don't mind?" I asked.

"What, you're STILL on it?" Apparently he envisioned me standing over a bucket and just releasing.

I don't think Greeks were prudes; if I remember correctly, they applied the repression pretty much solely to women.

Some things really don't change.

I had a friend who couldn't take the clutter of husband and kids but wouldn't bow down. So, started throwing anything she found on the floor away. Expensive, but it got a quick response. I've threatened my daughter with buying fluorescent fabric paint and writing DORK on everything she leaves lying around.

3) delaying whatever it was that he needed to do by the amount of time it takes you to get off your arse and find whatever it is.

You forgot the time wasted yelling at them for wasting your time. They have to LOVE that.

Oh, I wasn't beating myself up. I was throwing down the BS card.

:)

I can read in the car easily, but my husband readily gets carsick. Since he has dyslexia, he also is not particularly fond of reading. However, he doesn't like to drive at all which leaves me stuck driving and not reading.

Oh well.

Why does this remind me of a conversation with my husband when we first got married and I wanted a DVD player for the back seat. "The kids are difficult - why should we reward them?"

"Ha!" I told him, "The DVD player is for me, for my sanity."

One trip was all it took to convince him. That's why we do food, too. We're pretty tolerant of dirt and crumbs, thanks to Alex, and few if anythings that don't wash.

They don't have to listen to my music - but they better have headphones.

I'm a huge advocate for snacks and DVD players. My kids are still young enough to settle for movies and my teenager LOVES to read so books will work OR DVDs. What I need is something to entertain my husband....
