I've had my eye on Bachus for a while. This guy's voting record is somewhat conservative only because he's a go-along, get-along backbencher. That's also why he followed like a lemming into voting yes on TARP and "Cash for Clunkers." IMO, he thinks his job is to appease the leadership, to wait his turn for jobs that come with seniority, and to get reelected.

As I mentioned in my last column, Bachus spent so much of his time as House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member focused on various schemes to block Americans from accessing p0ker sites (really his sole claim to fame) that he pretty much blew off the important issues before the committee, including bank bailouts, banking regulation, mortgage reform, and credit card regulation. He was almost removed as Ranking Member in 2008. Rep. Roy Blunt, then minority whip, had to replace Bachus at the bank bailout negotiating table that year. This guy is only up for the slot because the business-as-usual crowd thinks it's his turn.

That's why Hugh Hewitt and Sarah Palin are speaking out against this, along with Sen. Inhofe.

I'm glad his line is busy. Hopefully we'll keep it that way! :-)

Rep. John Boehner can be reached at (202) 225-6205. I called. I hope many of us will let him know our opinion on this matter. After all, these guys work for us!

I would love to see this. Even better would be for Rep. Paul to chair the full committee (the House Financial Services Committee).

Spencer Bachus is in line for that slot, but he's proven himself completely incompetent. If that weren't enough, he recently lashed out at Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, blaming them for the fact that the GOP didn't win control of the Senate! See http://biggovernment.com/rmuny/2010/11/09/gop-rep... for the whole story.

PPA is a million-member group of poker players who organized to protect themselves from big government attacks on their liberty. They were simply minding their own business, bothering no one, when they found themselves under attack by big government establishment types like Bachus. In other words, Bachus and his ilk drove poker players to add yet one more lobby to Washington D.C.

The PPA is not a gamblers' lobby. It's a million-member organization formed by poker players who were minding their own business but who found themselves under attack by big government establishment types like Bachus. In other words, Bachus and his ilk drove poker players to add yet one more lobby to Washington D.C.
