Betsy:
You have no idea how much I appreciate that!
Give 'em hell for me!

I knew something was bothering me, but I just couldn't figure out what it was....
Early this morning I woke in the dark knowing, finally, just what it was...
The "Big Picture" that everyone talks about must have been painted by Picasso...
I want to go to a "TEA party" so badly I can taste it. As a "damaged" veteran (I dislike the term disabled) I just can't make it.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone would let them know that I was there in spirit if not in corpus...
Thanks,
Reg.

I think I love you!
I saw a march once when I was a kid... No one made a sound. All you could hear was the sound of feet moving up the road... It was like the end of the world. It was VERY scary and VERY impressive... Effective too! Wonderful idea! Count me in!

I hesitate to lend any credence to your "post" by replying to it, but I think one thing should be made clear... President Bush was hamstrung by a congress controlled by self-serving, partisan, democrat jerks that did nothing for years but try to make themselves look good to the media by trying to make the him look like an idiot so that they could accomplish their main goal... Not the one we elected them for, but their MAIN goal... Get re-elected. Don't tell me that President Bush "couldn't do anything"... Remember that he was prevented from doing anything at every turn. Now you have a "president" that can "do-no-wrong"... Let's just see how well that works out. So far, I’d say it hasn’t been a very good start.

Continued: I had no objection to Sarah Palin either. She is smart, savvy, and has enough experience to do the job and do it well. The brutality that she experienced at the hands of the liberal "talking heads" and garbage like "Saturday Night Live" and "The View" should have told all that she was feared and reviled by the leftists and their lap-dog media for good reason. The idiot that sits in the catbird seat now seems to be nothing more than a puppet with numerous other idiots jerking his strings. He has surely done a "wonderful" job so far... Of being an expensive suit with a speech in it.
To any Liberals out there who care to read this, I'll say this: I'll give your "president" the same respect that you showed mine.

Actually, from what I hear from some folks in DC, Powell was very upset that he wasn't offered the VP spot on the Republican ticket...
As a vet, I too would have seriously considered voting for him as I respected his stated views on a lot of subjects. His sudden turn around rather shocked me until I was told about his reaction to not being included on the ticket. Had Condoleezza Rice been the selectee I would have had absolutely no objection to her being VP. She has a head on her shoulders and, I think, the best interests of the country at heart. At least she has some idea about how to lead a country.

Where in the sweet world did you get that little piece of uh, information?
You really need to look at the reports of what really happened and quit listening to Rosie.

Is that why, when I go to the V.A. they send a bill to my private insurance company? Gee... I was wondering about that. Bet if you ask around a lot of us vets have received bills from our private insurance for services we received at the V.A.

Any attempt to prevent citizens from having the ability to defend themselves from criminal activity or political tyranny is a violation of the letter and spirit of the very document that establishes the laws under which we live, the document that should ensure our freedoms as Americans.
Please do not think of it as "ammending" the Constitution. It was written into the Bill of Rights to make it much more difficult to "interpret" in any other way than the way it was written, and even more difficult to change or infringe upon. It is less difficult to add an ammendment than it is to remove or re-write one.
That is why it was done the way it was.

An armed man is a citizen; a disarmed man is a slave.

If I may add my two cents worth here... Article II of The Bill Of Rights of The Constitution was written as a protection for all of the other rights enumerated there. The founding fathers of this nation were very familiar with tyrannical governments and local officials that chose the laws that they followed and those that they did not, and were able, because the general populace was unarmed, to do as they wished without the worry of some armed citizen standing up for himself and his family and putting a stop to it. Robbery, rape and murder were very common. THe "law" took what it wanted, when it wanted without any concern for consequences. The framers of our Constitution decided, wisely I think, that citizens must be able to defend themselves from criminal activity committed by either side of the law. They were right. Nothing has changed in the two hundred plus years that this nation has existed. There are still people on both sides of the law that engage in criminal activity.
