A nanny, a maid, a book keeper, and a personal shopper, and maybe I'll be on track. You're absolutely right. By tackling the living room floor, I gave the dishes and the laundry a chance to rebound. That'll be today's task. ...oh wait, when does the bathroom get a turn?

That's just it. All we can do is try to reduce the odds of anything befalling our children. But there are no guarantees.

Thank you, Linda. Parents do need to be fully aware of the risks and the data.

Thanks for speaking up for the pump, Amy. So many women feel so strongly about breastfeeding and happily express their milk on a regular basis in order to claim some independence from 24/7 mommydom that it was owed a proper defense.

Playground Confidential : Sex in the Schools

Nope, it was Grade Nine Gym. And the year was ... 1992-1993, I'm pretty sure. It could be things had changed and the Catholic schools had to teach the basics, but I know the teacher seemed very eager, too. I can't imagine they mandated props! By the way, I think everyone is right and sex ed does start with an unabashed and frank attitude toward body parts from day one.

Hmmm. I got a full disclosure Sex Ed experience at St. Joe's. Replete with a wooden penis for demos. Could have just been the teacher, though.

Playground Confidential : Does My Baby Have Reflux?

I'd mention it at her next doc's appointment. Did she already have her two-year check up? But I wouldn't worry -- I've heard of lots of little kids with delicate tummy's that act up when they get worked up. From my reading GERD lets up between 12 and 24 months. But my bigger point is that spitting up usually ISN'T reflux.

Playground Confidential : It Takes Two to Make One Look Easy: Dear Playground Confidential

For the record: I am truly sorry to have offended anyone. I am not referring to any particular moms here. I am just indulging in a rather self-centred, jealousy-tinged rant about how even the people who might most be expected to relate to my situation cannot fully get it. But I suppose that goes for everyone, doesn't it?
