Tribalism is popular today due to the growing self-loathing in Western culture. Western culture and technology is seen as "evil", and destructive to the earth. Poor, primitive people are righteous and pure, and live in harmony with the earth. Climate change, pollution, and even social problems like the stratification of society are all things caused by the evils of civilization (the West).

In the eyes of Leftist environmentalists, if humanity could go back to living in mud huts in small egalitarian communes, we'd finally "return" to utopia. Several of my Anthropology professors in college actually lamented the agricultural revolution, as it led to the social stratification of society; separation of the rich and the poor classes. Until large-scale agriculture allowed mass populations of humans and the construction of civilization as we know it, humans lived in a pure, egalitarian state in peace and harmony. If only we could return to that.... /sigh (sarcasm)

Cue Obama's call to "end the pursuit of middle-classness". Having a content middle class prevents the radical Left from inciting a revolutionary proletariat. Like religion, middle-classness is an "opiate of the masses", which keeps the majority of people tolerant of the status quo.

I'll paraphrase one of my English professors who said that a work of literature cannot be considered "art" unless it's morbidly depressing. I think Oscar voters are attracted to depressing films by default, since great works of art are "supposed" to be depressing in this postmodern era.

I was indoctrinated with all this stuff throughout college, but never in elementary school; high school; and definitely not in kindergarten!

They're determined to get our children as soon as possible now. They're in the home stretch.

Heh. I had an Anthropology/American Studies professor who advocated this. He believed children should have the exact same rights as adults, and were morally superior to adults in all ways. According to him, our society was organized backwards, and needed to have the children elevated to the superior roles due to their wise avoidance of war and hate...

A true portrayal of Muhammad's life would definitely qualify for anti-Semitic (well, anti-Jew really). But I doubt if any of the harsher Quranic suras and hadiths would be included in the film, and if anyone in Hollywood would even raise a fuss if they were.

Heh. I remember the review of the game "Left 4 Dead" in PC Gamer magazine, which came out during the election. It had a screenshot showing a horde of approaching zombies with the caption "Chaaaaaange!"

The Administration is just trying to get artists to "unite to make America a better place", as suggested by Michael Moore. Only a racist would be against making "America a better place".

This is one thing I definitely wish Obama success in. If Bin Laden is still alive, I hope our President and military is finally able to catch this elusive maggot.
