Emily: "I don't know..it looks awfully dark to me."
Casey: "Don't worry, we can FAUX paint it!"

While I like seeing the judges walk through the designs, I would rather they do it without the DS contestants looking on (wistfully...). Save that for the end - and bring ALL of them to the judging.
Bring back a mediator between the DSCs and judges.
And for crying out loud....give me back MY vote for Design Star. This online show vote is a cop out.

What? You telling me this one little chair put us over budget? Nobody told me there was a budget!

PS: In answer to your question - the jury is still out on who I think would make for good TV viewing.
Tom has panache...Nina has guts....Dan has good people skills....and Clive, well Clive just had that humor that bridged the gap between the contestants and the judging.

Design Star has never been "all about the design". Just a show with design teasers, edited marketing dramarama to get ppl to explode on the blogs. And the true nature of the blogs is so everyone gets a voice..even the HATE mongerers who have nothing better to say than "I hate......."
Thats okay, heck I am not real happy about the new format this Season...and I said so, I HATED when they took my vote away for the next Design Star and I said so, but as you say...it is just a mindless TV show.
Sometimes along the way there are a couple of designs you can get on board with, regardless of how crazy we might think the actual "challenge" is.
That's my favorite part - looking at the results...being able to voice my opinion on what I liked or didn't like. Sometimes I think the judges are spot on and sometimes I think they are grasping and I just have to shake my head - and forget about it.
And find something better to do - like get off my butt and go paint that bedroom downstairs!
Just kidding.....

"You do what you do, and I do what I do...uhhhhh....what were we talking about again?"

Agreed Serge,
I thought Casey had a strong design going. Minor irritations, I would have loved to have seen more layered bedding, but since Alex was looking for tranquil meditation/Fiji (ism), not enough to call her on it. Looking forward to see what else she has to offer us.

Ditto.

Agreed...using the judges in mediator\hosting positions is uncomfortable to watch. Leave them to the judging, and quit trying to be so cute. And perhaps I missed something, but it feels like Design Star has been pushed into an almost mediocre position - like it "snuck in". Did I miss an episode...where they all arrive and unpack, and settle in? Why the late time frame?
Bring back the bull-horn! Bring back the "Your Show Has Been Cancelled"!
BRING BACK MY RIGHT TO VOTE THE DESIGN STAR!

Tera's design, though pretty, looked SAFE to me. Very formulated.
Here is where I would ditch the round woven trays on the wall and push some of that rich chocolate on the wall - maybe mimic the pattern in the bedding.
The wall hangings above the bed, good idea...just not enough! Mulitply that by say, 9 of those above the bed - and that is where you get WOW!
Trent had a good thing going, then lost me with the hanging fabric. Candice was spot on in her assessment here.
