When I started calling him "The Manchurian Candidate" three years ago, I had no idea I'd stumbled onto a fundamental truth. Maybe "The Red Herring" is a better nickname these days, as this whole flap seems to be, yet again, designed to distrct us from the "culture of corruption" that Madame Pelosi vowed to clean up several years ago. (Does "drain the swamp" ring any bells for the post-MTV audience?)

Speaking of Madame Pelosi, shouldn't she start her "investigations" of those anti-mosque conspirators with Mad How [Dean] and Harry "No wetbacks in Vegas" Reid?

It's not like I buy that latest apocryphal story about The Manchurian Candidate and his allegedly gay friends, and called him a bad name here. (What I call him in the privacy of The Possum Den is not fit for mixed company and decent people.)

Since when is "cocktail" a bad word? Ya, it can be a double entendre, but we eat shrimp cocktails and drink martinis, sidecars, whiskey sours, silver bullets, margaritas, and rum punches. (Not all at once; the results can be catastrophic!)

As a former bartender, I resemble that remark!

Just trying to lighten things up, kids. I suggest we all lift a cocktail and toast absent friends.

I, too, got a bit wrecked about Jeff's passing when I got an e-mail about it. I think it was Hemingway that remarked the death of anyone diminishes us all.

Mr. J. was far too young, and I hardly knew him, but he will be sorely missed.

Last I heard, Shelly, Gomer Kerry--or JoKe, as he's known to his friends--has his Swift Boat/lobster trawler parked in Rhode Island, although his nominal employment suggests he's from The People's Republic of Massachusetts, and subject to the exhorbitant socialist taxes they exact on gigolos in that prudent state.

I am a fool for shrimp cocktail, but I'll never de-vein another one in this lifetime. Maybe cleaning them is one of those jobs the amnesty apologists insist "no American will take." As for any other seafood, I quote Harvey Keitel in "Rising Sun": "...I'll just eat a thermometer."

"Sushi" is Japanese for "bait."

Doesn't the President's salary place him in that $250,000+ category that he demonized so ardently a while back? Will he ever have a tax liability?

I'm under doctor's orders to avoid the news, because of stress due to interpretations of current events, cancellation of some of my health care benefits thanks to ObamaCare and the crippling of the national economy, and general angst about the state of The Union. However, I can still come here for a good laugh, which is still the best medicine.

A great American, Neal Boortz, once remarked that "a dip in the ocean of [this person's] soul would scarcely get your toes wet."

So it is with The Manchurian Candidate, who is becoming emboldened with this NY mosque fiasco. His true allegiances are becoming more open.

If Nancy Pelosi is Madame Defarge, then Michele Obama is Marie Anoinette. (Y'all go look up the French Revolution, Charles Dickens, and The Reign of Terror.)

Sigh...more new gizmos to contend with. I had to create yet another online account to post here, and they didn't even tell me how to post my mug shot in case anyone hasn't seen it at the post office yet. I guess I can look forward to the volume of junk -emails for weight-loss and gential-stiffening drugs to increase by another magnitude since I had to offer my e-mail up yet again to this latest fad site.

I had something germane to say about Ms. Sotomayor, but between the fun of re-registering to comment and my early onslaught Alzheimer's, relevance to the subject at hand is history.

Oh, yeah. It had something to do with this: if life experiences make one an "empathetic" expert with especial wisdom, then Osama Bamalama should appoint me the Czar of Race Relations, because I grew up white refuting the racist traditions of my environment.

Also, can a wise Latina woman can give me a better recipe for huevos rancheros than the one I have?
