This phrase of Gerson's jumped out at me: "Cable and the Internet now allow Americans, if they choose, to get their information entirely from sources that agree with them -- sources that reinforce and exaggerate their political predispositions."

This guy calls himself a conservative but is no better than Brooks, Frum, Noonan and so many other RINO mediocrities who live to suck up to the lefties inside the Beltway. There is not a conservative principle in their Ivy League-brainwashed heads.

In what universe can conservatives, even those of us active on righty blogs and with many righty friends on FB and elsewhere, get our information entirely from sources that agree with us? We are exposed daily, hourly, to all the statist and lefty biases of the entire MSM and indeed from Rush's Four Corners of Deceit we are exposed to the lies of government, media, science and academia. We actively have to search for opposing views to this universe of lies, while lefties living willingly and unquestioningly inside it, passively receiving the flow of a single point of view. Gerson is simply nonsensical in his whining. He equates O'Reilly (with over 4 million nightly viewers) to Olbermann, which is ludicrous. I'm not an O'Reilly viewer but he has a relationship with truth and Olbermann absolutely does not. He also has under 1 million viewers. The equation of the two is false and misleading.

At least we now have media with opposing and questioning views to the conventional wisdom. In the era of all-powerful media for which Gerson is nostalgic, there was NO dissent. Yes, we now build our own separate worlds of ideas and ideology and we are breaking apart into different spheres. Whose fault is that, Mr. Gerson?

It is extremely probable that my household will refuse to participate in the Census. If we do participate, I'll insist on seeing ID and taking personal info from the Census taker including party and organization affiliations. That might put them off enough to just go away.

I don't read it when it's free, much less would I ever pay for it.

We didn't get far enough into the episode to get the clues to draw the comparison, but I see it now. We thought the episode was dreadful from the get-go and gave it up maybe 10 mins. into it. CSI Miami for a long time has had simply dreadful scripts and acting (especially guest stars, most especially the teen guests who play uniformly sullen and rude suspects). For quite a while the only parts we have enjoyed are the scenery and Miami scenes which are gorgeous in HD. The scripts and dialogue are insulting to our intelligence. This confirms that opinion even more. CSIs in general have gone downhill. CSI NY is still decent but nothing pretty about it. The Vegas show is suffering without the anchor of William Petersen. Lawrence Fishbourne is good but this is not his milieu IMHO.

We gave up all L&O's a year or more ago - the Bush and conservative bashing is so overt it's simply ridiculous. There's almost nothing on TV that is well-made and non-insulting. "N.C.I.S.," "Fringe" and "The Mentalist" are about it - and "Sherri" is drop-dead hilarious! Even more so than "Seinfeld" and "Frasier." Outstanding.

Blythe Danner is a great actress and Bruce Paltrow was a good director. Together they raised a twit.
