This is prime example of just how ignorant Obama is about energy production. His hatred for capitalism, thanks to Black Liberation Theology and "seeking out marxist professors" at university clouds means this man, who otherwise would be a rational thinking human being, is not evil, just wrong.
Hopefully Voters in California District 10, New York District 23, Virginia, and New Jersey will send this clown a shot across the bow. Hopefully afterwards he will go Clinton and begin to realize being President means acting on behalf of all Americans, not just the 20% according to Gallup who are Progressive/Liberal.

Don't get jealous, but I live on Maui. A conservative here is as rare as snow on Haleakala, (our volcano). The Maui News stopped blogging entirely by reason its Liberal editorial staff could not handle conservative commentary. This was done after complaint by several well known community activist groups, the Pacific Whale Foundation, and Maui Tomorrow pressuring to stop it. Surprise surprise the News is failing. Another local Liberal publication went out of business last year.
There comes a time in the course of human events ....

A little What If?
What If Perot never appeared leading to a Bush I re-election. Bill Clinton becomes a nobody much like Edwards. Democrats run a new candidate against Powell in 1996 leading to the first Black President being a Republican. No GW Bush, instead his brother, Jeb, wins the nomination in 2004 and is now in his second term. The Supreme Court now leans 6-3 right and is deciding constitutionality of the EPA at this moment. There is no McCain Feingold, Illegal Immigrants are routinely being sent back home, but rules for immigration have been relaxed somewhat due to demographic needs of the nation.
The economy went through a recession due to Dot Com/ 9-11 as before, but the housing bubble has not yet developed to a point to crash it today. Instead Fannie and Freddie are curbed in time. Democrats do take the House and power shifts a sea-saw in the Senate over the period. Tax reform has gone ahead along with Tort reform. At this time US GDP is about 15 Trillion per annum instead of 13.5 T, "real" unemployment is 6.5%, not 16% as is is now.
These estimates are based on several major mistakes Congress made between 1992 and today being somewhat muted by a series of Republican Presidents. Right wing voters would have supported Powell according to polls at the time, he would have been more center right than Bush. Al Qaeda would still have hit NY on 9-11 due to attitudes leading up to the attack. Powell would not have invaded Iraq choosing to capitalize on global angst to concentrate on Afghanistan. Jeb Bush would have served one term as Governor of Florida well positioned to seek office in 2004.
Splitting the vote can have terrible fallout. A conservative revolution started by Reagan was crimped by maneuvering afterwards. Bush I was not the best person to follow on in hindsight. However Perot did more damage to America than most are aware of.

The poll, by Club for Growth has a small sampling of 300 for a reliability of plus minus 5.6. However in three polls recently Hoffman has taken second place in two and first in this one. Obviously the Republican should withdraw from the race if she wants to put a dent into Pelosi's scorched earth policies.

Best case Scozzafava drops out of the race, she is simply unelectable.

About SUV's if you want to counter its C02 impact just eat chicken a couple of more times per week. The difference in feed/processing between chicken and beef means if everyone switched to Kentucky baked twice a week from steak it would make up of all the SUV's on American roads.
Man generated C02 is 0.22% of total. 95% of the greenhouse effect comes from water vapor.
About 16% of Food production increase since 1900 is due to increased C02 in the atmosphere. Commercial green house produced veggies grow in C02 enhanced air, at 1000PPM to 1200PPM. (Atmosphere is around 350). With enhancement and the same water nutrient input growth can be much as 70% higher. (Oregon Petition)
Solar Panels are 8 percent efficient at best. Ask yourself, what happens to the rest of the light? Consider the color of panels, dark blue, or reddish-yellow. They absorb heat! I placed a thermometer UNDER one on my roof, the temp was higher than the surrounding standard roof tiles! In other words cover every roof in a city with these things, urban island heating will increase accelerating "global warming" more than the C02 they replace.
GE touts building a new wind turbine (1.5 Megawatt output) every 4 hours. Wow. Six a day, @ 32% efficient. To match current nuclear power in the US GE will have to keep up this rate of production for 132 years. That's 280,000 of the things. Average US reactor output is 1300 MW, there are 104 of them, wind turbines are 32% efficient and need fossil fuel back up, usually natural gas fired, over twenty thousand miles of new high voltage lines, and roads, roads, roads. That many will require 32,000 miles of new road infrastructure due where the best windy locations are. Carving open soil, paving much of it to 12' wide will have global warming effect of its own. Start doing the math it gets very expensive, very environmentally damaging, very fast. This is why in Spain this approach costs $800,000.00 US per "green job" delivering power including government subsidy at 24 cents per Kwh.
All while China and India are installing base load power at 5 to 6 cents.
Nice way to have US businesses compete internationally.
We should drill, build better buildings, double our nuclear power plant base, sequester carbon dioxide, convert existing passenger cars to LPG, build all electric commuter cars. Perhaps SPS solar in geo-sync orbit a generation from now.
Obama has it completely backwards. What do you expect from someone who even gets the meaning of the Constitution backwards. (See the first 10 pages of his thesis on the issue) The man is a twisted case of not evil, just wrong!

Sweet design. Can plug/out into an existing steam plant. Uses a salt/convection with "dissolved" fissile material, Thorium, Uranium, or Plutonium. It "burns" plutonium into less dangerous transuranics that are more radioactive, but with much shorter half life. Cannot melt down due to physics involved. Its flaw as I see it, a five year turnaround and refueling at a central facility.
Obama's new science czar also threw up a new roadblock against "conventional" reactors stopping 14 new license requests with a demand the containment building design must be tested against hurricane force wind, rain, and debris. This for a re-enforced concrete dome ten feet thick sitting on a fifteen feet thick re-enforced foundation designed to take a direct hit by a fully loaded passenger airliner.
Obama claimed he would bring science back to the White House. He did: Political Science of the forth kind - hijacking it for ideological reasoning, not scientific method.
We need to elect enough Conservative Republicans to the Senate in 2010 to impeach this piece of work.

At current growth MSM will apply to this new "network" in time for the 2010 elections. A tipping point has been reached, question is will it affect political equation in time for Obama's plans which will have half the population living off productive people in time for his re-election bid. The left is pouring every effort into marginalizing opposition voices and the Politburo is arranging arms of government to coordinate its propaganda with a majority of willing members in the WH press pool. This could be America's last chance for constitutional rule of law to survive.
