Last week I went to LHS to renew my dog's license. She (my dog) is aged and my wife and I are considering a new, but older dog. We don't want a puppy. So I took a tour of the shelter. I don't mind a Stafordshire Terrier mix, which is what I think our dog is, whom we've had for 15 years and is a beta sweetheart. She will roll over for a tummy rub for anyone and will cower and hide from other alpha dogs.

I was truly stunned at the sheer number of pure pit bull breeds. What was most disheartening and obviously dishonest was the signs on the the outsides of the cages: "Retriever Mix". Over and over. Cage after cage with muscular eating machines labeled as "Retriever Mix". A family friend once referred to pit bulls as "a dog food powered chain saw". Very apt description.
Although we cannot tell where this particular pit came from (LHS or elsewhere), we ought to be able to tell that LHS has a skewed ideal of what is good for this community.

LHS director Smokowski is on a mission, and we've had enough of it. Let's start at the source. Let's attend LHS board meetings and insist on Ms. Smokowski's replacement with a true community supporter and clear headed thinker. The LHS board cannot operate in a vacuum.

Let's see some restraint by the speakers at PITBH. The CC is doing their level best, but the speakers are repeating themselves and each other for hours. Can we expect this CC meeting not to have any results when the speakers take up all of their time.

Kill the battery or pull it out of the old phone (if possible). My old Nokia was open face and the armrest in my car has dialed all sorts of numbers for me - including 911
Good PSA!

Also -911 hang-ups are usually suspected as domestic violence situations. The cops want to respond. Please be careful.

Well only sorta. In 2001 the bill (that became law) that decriminalized MJ possession was drafted by Sen. John Andrews. Not just a Republican, but the president of the senate.
Sen. Andrews point was that the 2000 med MJ constitutional amendment would proliferate more MJ in circulation and that putting people in jail for nine years (the mandatory minimum) for having a joint in the ashtray would clog up the courts and fill the jails. That bill passed with a Republican controlled legislature. Good fiscal sense.

In 2006 Mason Tvert of SAFER was telling proponents and petition circulators not to engage Republicans on the topic, stating that no Republicans would support it. At a NORML meeting in Longmont where he was training petitioners he re-stated this tired and uninformed nuttiness then got a show of hands from registered Republicans which constituted about two-thirds of the room.
Point being that western US Republicans are not much like eastern ones. Californian congressman Dana Rohrabacher is just such an example. The Hinchey-Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment in 2007 showed his support for MMJ. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinchey-Rohrabacher_...

The EPA will show up and claim noxious odors are inflicting damage. Boulder, the Super Fund clean up site.
They can cover it with 18" of soil and call it good. That's what happened in LoDo where there was a radium mill near the train station.

This is the reason that CU cannot teach business ethics. Try as they might, but then totally blow it.
