If I'm not mistaken the hospital doesn't use state money for salaries, as they can pay from what the hospital earns as a business. So this shouldn't impact the state budget at all.
Me chomping down a big ole greasy burger sitting say 3 booths away doesn't make your cholesterol go up and cause a heart attack unlike second hand smoke increasing my chance of getting lung cancer. Although I will agree that bad habits are easily picked up by kids from their parents regarding smoking and eating, but in general, a "fattie" as you call it won't be a detriment to other unknown diners like a smoker will.
Umm...In segregation people didn't have a choice of being White, Black, Hispanic, or whatever. But people do have a choice whether or not to smoke. So if you don't like what group your "Segregated too" then you can change that by not smoking. Ethnic people can't just decide to be a different color (except for Michael Jackson). Big difference between Anti-smoking laws and segregation.
I would urge everyone to write their Senatros and House Representative to support this bill!! The more they hear from us the more this bill has a chance of passing. Here's the link to find your Senator and House Rep.'s email:

Regardless if it's taxpayer money or $5 hotdog revenue, the money belongs to the state. This is a waste of state money. When these kids make it to the NFL they'll have to learn to play with distractions. So I say distract a way and learn a lesson to concentrate on task at hand while saving money that could be used to actually support academics....the real reason for the U of I.
Oh I wish he'd call our house!! This would be one poll I would not hang up on. I'll just post it here
No on the Tax,
No on the Cameras, this city already has a bad reputation and these are making it worse.
Flood Insurance is chaper than an ugly wall.
I already pay taxes for road repair, so figure out how to do it with the money you get already.
and I'm not impressed with this continual tax, tax, tax stance the council seems to have taken.
There....poll done.
I know Chief Graham loves events like this....more money for the pollice dept. from unsuspecting motorist and his cameras.
I would personally like to thank the plow drivers for their hard work on Christmas Eve and more than likely giving of themselves on Christmas so we can all travel as safe as possible!!!
Thank You!!!
You know the council will green light this no matter what we the public want, it’s more money for them so it’s a no brainer for them. It’s sad but it’s the way this council works, with no regards to what we the people really want.
On another thought, the budget of Animal control is around $600k if I remember correctly and is controlled by the CRPD. The new redlight tax brings in close to if not more than $600k….anyone else see an obvious solution here??? At least until we get some decent council members to get rid of the cameras….someday
As usual, the council votes for what THEY want, and not what the PEOPLE who put them in office want. We already pay taxes to provide animal control is this not double dipping? This city is truly making me sick to say I live here of which if my situation was different I would remedy that right quick.
