Unfortunately, Americans tend to not act until apparently directly attacked (9/11, Pearl Harbor, the Maine, etc.), or when things get reeeeeeeeeeeeeally bad for a looooooooooooot of people (Depression, Civil Rights, Viet Nam, labor wars). Things just aren't bad enough yet. When Obamacare is outlawed, and enough emergency wards close because of lack of funding, it's just possible that a few people might start waking up to the fact that it's time to change.
