LBM equals tenacious effort - I was at Stamford Bridge when he stood up to Terry and the shite JT grabbed him around that throat - Boa Morte shows fight and courage, that's why Curbishley bought him for his fight in a relegation struggle.
Parker's relentless effort apart and Behrami's work-rate aside (albeit a little headless chicken at times) had some of the others shown the same desire and passion this season as Luis Boa-Morte Pereira............ need I to go on?
Smee ats 58 - 57 actually!!
Same sentiment - here's hoping against hope. Defend a 1 goal lead Green to play that same blinder as when we beat them there Apr 2007, go in at 90 1 all, if only eh? Come On You Beautiful Irons!!!
Since '64 PNE Cup Final for me and it don't feel like my West Ham anymore, well at least this season anyhow. Let's hope for a miracle point today given how Wolves are faring 'gainst Villa; hands together eyes skyward
I think that everyone knows that we stand no chance at the Emirates so it’s far better to lead everyone to think that we are not going to field our strongest side and so capitulate purposely by default whilst trying to fool everyone into thinking that that was the plan anyhow; the ole aliens at Groom Lake kinda ploy. Chandos I have to disagree with you in this regard: “the most consistent thing about the team is its inconsistency” we have been very consistent this season unfortunately – yep you got it – all bad. “If the side turns up that tamely concedes the midfield, shows indecision at centre back and allows the opposition to use the flanks to good effect” yep we’ve done all of that far too often, and yep “the points are lost already” Zola has said as much. The next couple of lines of yours SJ, I won’t repeat but, sorry, are a little pie in the sky. This is not the game to play Diamanté, he has no work-rate or pace does not help out from a defensive point of view and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him in our defensive third; we will not get enough possession to make it worth playing him. We need a strong side that understand what their duties are and how important it is to harry, to be in their faces the whole game not give them any time on the ball, to pester and aggravate them. Behrami & Parker aside (who isn’t playing) who have we got that is going to do that for us? Beg to differ, The Gooners WILL NOT let us play they will see how we capitulate once we have gone behind and they will be looking for the early goal to demoralise us. If that happens – say if they score in the first 10 minutes – then, as much as I hate to say it, it could be our first real rout of the season, and by that I mean more than 4 goals scored against us. Counter attack with Stanislas will not pay any dividends he is just not good enough against this quality of opposition, he will get isolated at the touch-line and not be able to get himself into the game, neither Walcott nor Joey Cole he ain’t. Have we any “class” strikers? I would agree with you inasmuch as a point for us today would be MASSIVE. Looking at the other games around us today and fearing the worst from that point of view, could see us back in the bottom 3. We need at least 10 points from our remaining 9 games – that’s 3 wins and a draw, or 2 wins and 4 draws – that will be very hard to achieve if we fall back into the mire. Yes a point here today IS MASSIVE!! “This may be one of the days when they do the unexpected and remind us all why we love this wonderfully romantic, but frustrating club so much!” It’s not been like that for me this season it is almost a West Ham I don’t recognise and feel a little detached from - shame
andyhammer - There appears to be a contradiction there, or is it me?
"Gareth Barry is inferior to Parker but is a regular starter despite ineffectual performances this year." and...
"Barry does that job and does that job nicely right now as he seems to have formed an instant understanding with Lampard and Gerrard."
I'm not saying that Tomkins was at fault all over the place because he was but Faubert could have done a lot better for the first goal he was hopelessly ball-watching and got caught out, his speed is no good when he plays like that. Faubert wasn't out jumped he was feeble but then so too was Tomkins and everyone else. Had Diamanti not lost the ball in the middle of the park and then dived and tried to con the ref, the first goal might never have happened that way anyway they are all culpable!!!
Davies was just over Fat Bears shoulder he never came from deep, it would have only taken a slight glance over his right shoulder to see that he was there. Had he done that he could have gotten to the ball much quicker than the Bolton bully boy. Instead he was caught ball-watching and never even noticed KD behind him until it was too late. Then he made the most awfully feeble attempt to jump with Davies and made himself look like a pub team player - pitiful amateurish football
Faubert was just as guilty as Tomkins for the first goal, he got caught ball-watching and let Davies get in front of him with consumate ease. Like Walcott, running ain't any good if you can't play football. They're saying Walcott silenced his critics yesterday, he never for me he was playing against a pub team at the bottom of the Sunday league. C Cole, Upson, Green, Walcott these are going to figure for us in SA this summer, do we stand a chance?
Oliver you are dead right -That Diamanti play acting in the middle of the park that eventually lead to their first goal should have been awarded with a yellow card. I have watched it over and over in slow motion the Bolton player never even touched him. Had he been a man and stood up their first goal.... well never mind it was that type of..... I'm struggling to type the word "game". Have you ever seen a West Ham side lay down and die more convincingly than that? And yeah right too since his penalty award outside the box Parker has got that diving along the grass down to a fine art - is that what we have come to?
