I'm happy I no longer smoke. I do however wonder if any of our city council members are able to walk 25 feet without thinking "there ought to be a law...".

Hold on. While I don't like the secret meetings there seems to be some magical thinking around here. How is it that the anti-development people propose to handle the affordable housing issue without increased density? How does the city keep a diverse group of employers, reduce traffic and keep the green belt, without increasing density? It seems to me that this is just the latest thing to blame for changes in town, by nostalgic people, who wish for the Boulder of 1980. Guess what? The US population has increased by over 92 million people since 1980 and Colorado's population has increased by nearly 2.5 million people too. Unless the plan is to be less desirable as a town, increased density is really the only answer. Sorry, Boulder isn't a small college town anymore, but Denver isn't a cow town anymore either.

Yeah that $30 is a big burden, in all likelihood they will be validated in any court case.

No state is going to win their appeal, DOMA is unconstitutional. A state can't recognize the marriage of two individuals that move to your state that are already married, but not marry people that want the same recognition that the state already has to. It creates two classes of people and is discrimination, which is unconstitutional.

The oil and gas commission did just put in the strictest regulations, but they didn't fund any enforcement. 73% of all wells aren't inspected, because there are only 17 inspectors for over 40,000 wells.

Wells make up 75% of all methane produced on the Front Range.

And, the leak benzine at 7 times the amount estimated by the EPA and the oil and gas industry.

And, there have been three recent studies linking air pollution to an increase risk of getting autism. Not a direct link to fracking wells, but given that the well air pollution makes up over half the pollution on the Front Range, one could make the case.
