I have, as an admitted outsider, kept up with interest, with the events, specifically in regards to what's going on with the fire department. I am not taking sides, as this is a complicated situation that has obviously been brewing for many years, but I do have a comment to make about the 'volunteer association'. How can they 'appoint themselves' as Captains, outside the legitimate ( whether you agree with it or not) administration's authority? Shawn Parrish, also an outsider, who has insinuated himself into the politics of Cascade Locks, and who has failed (miserably) in numerous fire service related pursuits, has deemed himself as 'protector' of what's best for Cascade Locks Emergency Services? (HUH?)

Like him or not, Jess Zerfing has been appointed by the legitimate governing body of Cascade Locks. Parrish should stop stirring the pot, looking for yet another reason to sue someone ( yes, he has a history of litigation...it's public record; google it).

Small town politics is messy enough without help from outside, and outsiders. I hope the city can get their Emergency Service Issues resolved soon...the safety of residents who expect (and deserve) adequate, professional response, when they call 911 is not a privilege, it's something they pay for!
