In Hitchen's case, he just likes to argue.

Why do you assume he's lonely?

The supernatural, including any god or gods, are the human brain's attempt to fill in gaps in our understanding of nature and the universe. We tend to not like blank spots.

Where did he say we are our own creators or masters of anything?

Or are you saying there are lots of gods in the world and one of them is bound to be real?

Actually it IS for you to prove there is a dime..or any god or gods.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Lets remove your brain, or part of it, and see how well you think.

Natural selection.
It's pretty well established in the fossil and genetic records.

Aren't you starting from the presupposition that there is no Zeus, or Apollo, or Odin, or Allah, or Santa Clause? There is no more evidence of any god or gods than there is for the tooth fairy.
Your analogy about the watch only works if you go from nothing to finished product. This is not the case with natural selection. The evidence for evolution is vast and incontrovertible.
People are born hardwired to look for patterns. This is also part of the evolutionary process. Where there is lack of evidence, our imaginations fill in the gaps. This is where mythology comes from.
You are free to believe anything you like....however this doesn't make it real. You can pray and believe all you want but it's not going to make something imaginary into something real.
