The Soar Scholarship that was born in the heart of Mera last year was a life line for me this last year. Like many of you my life took unplanned turns throughout the year, but it was so fun to wake up and see what the Soar Sisters were up too each day. Their kindness to share knowledge, mistakes, ideas, and creativity astounded me. The Soar Program reached far more than three recipients this year, it reached hundreds of us, teaching, coaching, and encouraging us to dream a dream and to walk forward a day at a time to reach that dream. It also reached into our artistic hearts and more importantly it created friendships that I am so grateful for and with women I have never even met. I don't know what I would do if photography was not in my life, but the relationships that have been developed on this site has made photography for me more meaningful. I thank Mera, Brian, and the whole team, Genie, Fay, Karen, Sony, Sponsors, for investing in so many women's lives, especially mine. I SUPPORT SOAR!!!!!!

Lindsay, I was so thrilled to see that you won the scholarship. When I saw your video I could not get your family out of my head for days. I even talked about you to my group of women that I meet with every week here in Tacoma. On Friday I told them that I really hoped you would win. I know it was probably hard for you to talk about your husband's accident, but your sharing the story showed the strength, hope and healing that God provided. I hope you are ready for all of us to "stalk" you as we watch and learn from your journey. Blessings to you and your family!

I want to add to all the congratulations! You are so calm and soothing on your video and then ahhhh three kids under 3, how do you stay so calm? We are all going to have so much fun following you this year and I will be reading your post with a Texan accent in my head. Most of my family is in Dallas so it makes me feel at home. Blessings to you and your family!

I am so happy for you and I am looking forward to "stalking" you like we do Mera. I think your creativity and sense of humor will shine through these pages. This is going to be a fun year. The only thing is when I read your post I read them with an accent in my head as if you were really talking...haha.

There is such a short window of time when they are newborn, way to get yourself out there. Let us know when pictures are up. Freida, what video number are you? I love what you write and I want to put a face with the name.

Nickie, I am getting so confused with so many post here. I am # 85, the crazy one in the water. I found you and you are such a doll. So you are coming from Alaska to the workshop? It will be great to meet you in person. I am getting so excited. See you in a couple of weeks.

Kari,
GREAT advice from someone who has been there. I believe we all have a story, some were told on video and some were not. Until we walk in someone else’s shoes who are we to judge if they are worthy. There is far more to each individual story than we will ever know.

As I watched the videos, every woman was beautiful and talented in their own way. I have been through many tough times but while watching the stories I was so grateful that some of the women’s experiences I have not had to go through, yet, anyway.

This experience for me has been a real clarification as to what I need to be doing with my life so for that I am eternally grateful. We have also enjoyed getting to know you and your adorable kids through this process. It is going to be fun soaring together this year!
