3x more misils per sub= 2 fewer subs constructed to maintain firepower and even with only a 20% increase in price per sub that is still like paying for 1.6 subs less. the military is learning to budget, horay!

great piss the whole world off and have china shoot it's nukes back at us. then create nuclear winter from the debrise that will either almost or compleatly kill off humanity. if you sugested an EMP i would be more inclined to agree with you but even that would paint us as the bad guys to the rest of the world and lets face it we are probable the most hated and feared nation on earth as it is.

starting numbers only matter for a small amount of time. begining of our entrance into WW2 our military was not very large we didn't win because we had the largest standing military. we won because we could replenish losses faster than our enemies. so i will have to agree with blight the longer the war would last the less our chances of winning would be.

bombs can be placed any where, that is not the point of the article. the point is rather than spending money to build roads we can place these mats, thus decreasing travel time without too much increase to the cost of the war.

i do agree with you that making ethonol is a wasteful process and i am not saying that we will run out of oil soon. but the earlier we start researching alternative energy the better our chances are of avoiding an "ow $#!+ we can't drive to work!" moment later.

Defense Tech : Navy One Step Closer to Using Lasers for Ship Defense

light acts like a wave until we try to observe it at which point we shoot particles at it and it slows the paticles of light down. light is an object but it is traveling soo fast it behaves like a wave but once it reaches a denser object the likely hood of it coliding with another particle is greater. it is like shooting a bullet at a duck mid flight there is a lot of empty space around it (air). however if there is a group of ducks that are close together (solid or liquid) your bullet (light) is more likely to hit at least one of them.
