Victoria - You have officially jumped the shark. There's no indication that people are going to stop watching Fox or listening to conservative talk radio. Unless... you are saying that the government is going to be shutting them down - in which case, the poster you called "SICK SICK SICK SICK SICK" is absolutely correct in his prognostications. Which "people" are you referring to? And what's this "we" business? Who are you?

Breitbart.com : Obama wraps up peaceful Hawaii trip

I am concerned for our president. When he was candidate Obama, I thought that it was not good for him to have everyone treating him with kid gloves, or as if he was godlike, incapable of ever doing anything wrong. I thought it was as bad for him as it was for Bush to have been treated in exactly the opposite way. Not only was it harmful to both men, it was also a terrible example set by the media and the PC crowd. Interestingly, Bush never fell apart (like Dan Quayle) or tried to change his direction (like Bill Clinton or Arnold Schwarzenegger), despite the fact that he was demeaned and demonized at every turn. He held his head high, stayed true to himself, kept his sunny optimism and self-deprecating humor, and is enjoying life, knowing that he did the absolute best he could for the right reasons. When Obama was elected, I thought he didn't look at all happy. He looked so serious that I wondered if he was finally aware of how completely in over his head he was. With no real opposition (because everyone was afraid to criticize him for fear of being called racist), no comedian brave enough to even make a joke about him - only about others around him - he was like a cute little greenhouse plant, not like a sturdy oak. It was then that I began to worry that he would not be able to handle ANY opposition well. And he has not - his smug arrogance belies a man who has been able to win without trying, who possibly knows in his heart of hearts that he didn't do the work necessary to deserve all of the scholarships, or the positions he was appointed to, certainly not the US Senatorship (gained by illegally publishing his opponent's divorce records), which led to his meteoric rise to the presidency - and Obama worship. When I see him physically shrinking like this, it appears to me as a metaphor for what is going on inside. I don't see him as strong enough to withstand the pressure of not being the darling of the world. He didn't withstand the pressure when he WAS the darling - a strong man would have insisted that he not be considered or treated as brilliant and god-like, rather than allowing it to mushroom into the Greek-pillared circus that was his nomination acceptance speech. If he couldn't handle the over-the-top accolades, how could he ever handle being treated like a normal person? Yes, I am sincerely worried about him. This ongoing weightloss and inability to accept reality or responsibility are not signs of strength. He looks like a breakdown - physical or mental or emotional - waiting to happen, and I don't say that lightly.

Breitbart.com : Analysis: Mosque talk another hurdle for Dems

"First of all, i think everyone who opposes the building of the mosque should just admit that they hate arabs." "Tolerance is something we need to teach our children, not hatred." Your first post was an attack on everyone who disagrees with the building of a mosque on the site - which would have to include the loved ones of the 9/11 victims. Then you talk about peace and tolerance in your second post. Which of your posts makes your point that I supposedly am missing? Why is the Imam refusing to even meet with the governor to consider a compromise? Why is he willing to accept funds from Saudi Arabia and Iran to fund the mosque? How is his stated desire for Sharia Law in America an example of a "peaceful Muslim?" When has he retracted his statements regarding the culpability of the United States in the 9/11 tragedy? When has he denounced radicalism or bemoaned the hijacking of his religion? How has he displayed any desire to link arms with our culture? There IS a small mosque in that vicinity. There are few people who live in the area, and only a few of them are Moslem. You have no doubt learned of the Greek Orthodox church that was destroyed on 9/11 and has not been granted a permit to rebuild in the last decade - because it would look too much like a church! You did not address the concept of a "triumphal monument" - made clear by the initial plan to call it "Cordoba House" - clearly a reference to a church converted to a mosque when Muslims conquered Spain. Just as the Dome of the Rock is a monument to proclaim the supremacy of Islam on the ruins of the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem, so is this mosque a declaration of radical Islam's "victory" on 9/11 - the greatest achievement in the history of Islam. Why would they not wish to build a monument in the tradition of their religion?

Greg, your posts used to be so reasoned and thoughtful. Now it's clear that you, like me, have had enough. You're still reasoned and thoughtful, but you have taken everything that we have learned about this man over the last three years and encapsulated it into a fairly terse and damning paragraph. Well done.

I don't care what party you belong to - you just called people who lost their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, parents and grandparents "Arab Haters" because they don't want a building that may have the ashes of their loved ones imbedded in its walls made into a triumphal monument. My understanding is that they have been offered another site for this mosque, but they (the Imam and his group) refused. They have EVERY right to build a mosque wherever they want to. Their right is not the issue. If you were in their position, would YOU insist on building on a property, knowing that doing so is causing pain to so many?

Breitbart.tv : Rep. Anthony Weiner Loses it on House Floor

Since you asked: http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/35160/20100713/ob... http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/politics/july-dec1... http://abcnews.go.com/WN/president-obama-democrat... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/24/house-de... You see the same thing that I see and we have the opposite response. No sweat. I'm sorry that you are so willing to condemn one side completely - which I have not done - in order to defend one man's questionable behavior. I guess you're right. This proves beyond a doubt that Republicans have absolutely no concern about the 9/11 heroes. And any Democrat who has ever voted against funding the troops has no concern for them, either. It couldn't be a principled response and a request for a less purely partisan maneuver. Sometimes no-votes do come in protest to heavy-handedness on the part of the majority, and it would be better for all of us if the Dems got off their high horse and started working with the other side. Apparently it will take a defeat in November to convince them. Au revoir.

Breitbart.tv : Rep. Anthony Weiner Loses it on House Floor

There are a lot of theatrics on the floor, particularly when the cameras are running. On both sides. And both sides make many of their votes with a certain amount of political gamesmanship. By assigning evil motives to just one side, your own partisanship overwhelms your logic. And that is what I'm saying about Weiner. If a bill is presented one way, and then the other side is barred from input, causing it to be more difficult to be passed, who is to blame? It begins with the Dems' decision to block Republican amendments. There's no need to explode over it - just get to work, present the bill, allow input from Republicans and get it done. He could easily have gotten it passed with a simple majority, even if every Repub voted "no." Again I ask, did he NOT have enough Dem votes for a simple majority? Did he mean to work with Republicans initially and then shut them out - thereby requiring a 2/3 vote? If so, did HE really want this to pass? I'm not casting aspersions on either group; I'm just trying to think it through logically, and your arguments - though passionate and sincere, I'm sure - just don't make sense to me. Still, it's been interesting sparring with you. Until next time...

"Now you're beginning to sound like Fox News." Maybe, but there have been multiple reports outside of Fox News that back me up. You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not supporting it with facts. I'm OK with passion, but now you're saying that he got loud and angry because he felt he was being interrupted and treated rudely. Whether or not that is true, it certainly has nothing to do with patriotism.

You think Republicans are worried about how they'd look bad at elections, and therefore would deliberately scully a vote that would help 911 victims? Republicans are not nearly as worried as Democrats are, so I don't think it's logical to assume that the R's are the ones playing politics with this issue. Again, WHY didn't the Dems just pass this thing? They had the votes. Maybe it's my midwest stoicism, but rants and out-yelling your opponent don't equal passion and patriotism to me. And thank you for not... calling me a fool for disagreeing with you.
