That's a funny fact, I live north of Marche and the motto here is just slightly different:
better a dead in your house than a Marchigiano on your doorstep.

Unlike Abruzzo there are no wolves in my region, but in the late sixties there was a great emigration of people from Marche, which had many old mines closed, to the farms and the rising chemical industries of the northern bordering region.

While we can't be blinded anymore by WRC cars' headlights, there are many local rallyes and some more important series (including IRC) that still race at night.
Last year I was really tempted to go watch the Sanremo Rally, where a *44Km* special stage on a twisty mountain road was held... at night.
But speaking of modern rallying might sound blasphemous on Morning Qualifying, so I'll just keep watching a video of one of my favourite Hoons at the biggest historic rally in my country.
