Probably just a left over pervert who wasn't told "Occupy" was asked to leave campus.

I agree with your (apparently unpopular) assessement of the situation. I'm extremely hesitant to be swayed by a bunch of "protesting" high school students. I'm sure they're doing it because they really like the teacher and - that's terrific. But let's face it... high school kids will go out and protest anything if it gets them into the limelight and out of class. That isn't say I don't believe them, just that whatever they have to say is immaterial to the situation at this point. I suspect there may be some other, less noble motivations in play here..

Personally (unlike Bella above), I'm astounded that more teachers aren't pushed to that snapping point where they must control a student with some limited physical force. Believe me, I'm not shedding any tears for this kid. He was "dissed" by the teacher so will now use the system for revenge. You couldn't pay me enough....

I also believe things will be fine until 2013. The point is, I don't want a repeat. I believe our president is in over his head. If you seek it out, you will find information which empirically argues that the economy would have rebounded much sooner but for the legislative attempt at social upheaval by this administration. Of course, you'll have to look outside the hyperpartisanship of Krugman and his ilk to get at the real facts.

It is always good to anecdotally experience what is good, but it is just that... one person's perspective. The media is telling us the economy is getting better. I'm sure there is slight improvement on some levels, but just as you are experiencing a personal windfall, think of those millions of others who haven't. We happen to live in an area that wasn't as affected as the majority of the nation. I just can't see how expanding a government of already leviathanic proportions will help. Has is ever? Ever? Anywhere?

I don't think you are delusional. I think you believe what you do because you are young and have little experience in life. It's natural to grasp at empty phrases like "hope and change" because the alternative appears very dark to you. No offense to you at all, but I think you will eventually learn that it takes more than catch phrases and good intentions to be a successful society. Try reading something other than the MSM and see what's really happening. Are you not frightened that our media has a clearly leftist political agenda and is willing to sink as low as editing a recording to falsely demonstrate that a person acted with racist intent... for the sole purpose of stoking the fires of division by race? The larger question is; how do you view the human condition and how it should be arranged in a society? If you are for a European type nanny-state then by all means, Obama is your man. Never mind that those nations are now accepting that austerity may be their only remaining lifeline. Study history. A traditionalist viewpoint is not void of sympathy, it is simply more focused on an individuals rights AND responsibilities within a society.

BTW, Palin resigned in 2009, many months after she had lost the election. I think that point in itself is a substantive difference.

Oh, come on, man!

Let's all just put any partisanship aside and agree that we don't need to be wasting an extra million bucks. :)

Oh? How much did it cost to replace Reichert? Oh... next to nothing? Did I miss the special election funded by the county?

Reichert was replaced by Sue Rahr who was appointed by the King County Council until she was elected the following November. No special election was held. So, yeah, I guess it cost $200 or so to have her new stars and badge put on her uniform. Scandalous!!!

BTW, the story is basically the same as far as Palin goes.
