Big Hollywood : Music Industry On Life Support?

Are you kidding me? One of the top songs of the year, nominated for all kinds of Grammys, is called "F*** You"! And you are asking why the music industry is in the toilet? I listen to Underground Garage on XM, a great mix of old surf/garage/rockabilly/frat rock along with the newer bands that continue the tradition. I also love the "Oldies Videos" page on Facebook, which brings back all the great music of the '50s and '60s, along with its sister page, "Oldies Videos, '70s". That is enough for me.

Big Hollywood : The Dark Shadows of 'True Blood': Let’s Share Some Blood Among Friends

I ran home from school every afternoon to watch a show on ABC - but it wasn't "Dark Shadows". Never had an interest in it (nor in "True Blood", for that matter). No, I ran home to catch the show that came on after "Dark Shadows" - "Where the Action Is"! Loved, Loved, Loved Paul Revere and the Raiders - especially Mark Lindsay! It had all the great bands and performers from that era on every afternoon. I wish I knew why Dick Clark has never released any DVDs of the shows, unless they were erased or were not saved for some reason. Great memories!

Agreed, Jack. His performance in "Lonesome Dove" is mesmerizing. I would watch him read the phone book.

Mr. Selleck has a new show this fall on CBS called "Blue Bloods", playing the NYC police chief. There is a strong cast co-starring with him. This one sounds promising.

Big Hollywood : Daily Gut: On Your First Job Out of College

I am incredibly proud that once my three kids (2 of whom are already college graduates) moved out to go to school, they did not come back. I believe they would rather live in a cardboard refrigerator box under an overpass on the Schuykill Expressway in Philly than move back home with my husband and me. The youngest of the two grads is working his butt off as a waiter, but its a job and he's not too proud to earn a living, rather than mooch off us. He is ready to move on to something more "adult", but even if he doesn't find the ideal job right away, he will keep at it. That is something that we have instilled in him: that while he is "special" to us as our son, he is just another college punk to potential bosses, until he proves himself.

Big Hollywood : No Love 'Lost'

I have so many conflicted feelings about the ending of the show. At first, I liked it very much, but realized shortly after that with so many questions left out there - the ones about the Temple, where did Jacob and Smokey's Mother come from, etc. - I felt cheated. And like another poster, I now feel that the writers took the easy way out, just as the Dallas writers did with the Bobby Ewing fiasco and the Seinfeld writers with the whole winding-up-in- jail thing. I loved this show most of the time, enough to ignore the weirder episodes. It was emotionally powerful to see all the characters reunited, but I think it was a cheap thrill in the end. The characters were exceptionally well-drawn and many had great individual episodes. I was totally invested in them. If enough care was given to crafting the ending as was given to crafting the characters, I would have been totally satisfied.

I much preferred it when Fordham stood in for Georgetown during the filming of "The Exorcist", filmed while I was a student there. In fact, the Linda Blair character was far more likable than Matt Damon is himself.

Big Hollywood : Daily Gut: Clinton on Our 'Current Climate' of Violence

These people will say and do anything, and I mean anything, to remain a) relevant and b) in power. Clinton has one hell of a nerve after the disasters that occurred during his watch. I would include in that some responsibility for 9/11 and yes, I am going back and saying that while there was blame to go around on that account up to the day it happened, the distractions of the Clinton era and the disarray within the agencies charged with protecting us, can be lain at the feet of the Clinton presidency. He is a disgusting and reprehensible individual.

Big Hollywood : Tom Hanks: America Wants to 'Annihilate' Terrorists Because 'They're Different'

OK, here's the deal. If the Islamic Fascists ever make it to our shores and have the power to do so, the first people they will put to their deaths will be the "artists" like Mr. Hanks. It happens in all these despotic regimes. Educators will be next. My late Uncle Howie served in the Pacific. He was one of the nicest, most gentle men I have ever known. But to the day he died, he detested the Japanese people for the things he saw done by them to his fellow servicemen. Nothing, not even the passage of time, changed that opinion. I believe their direct descendants are the jihadists among us today. Mr. Hanks, while a fine actor, is a dolt when it comes to understanding history. If we watch his series on the Pacific, it will be with a huge grain of salt.

Frasier was one of the very few tv shows of the last 20 years that I never missed. Funny, thoughtful, and exceedingly well-acted. I loved the fact that Kelsey never seemed to mind building an episode around one of the other characters. I think it is why so many of the show's fans felt as if we personally knew the wacky and lovable Cranes and their extended "family". Congratulations and many happy returns, Mr. Grammer!

Big Hollywood : Top 10: Lead Performances of the Last 25 Years

Ralph Fiennes performance is at once mesmerizing and horrifying. I cannot agree more with your assessment. The worst part is that if you read the book "Schindler's List" by Kennelly, you will see that the real man was as sick and evil as the role showed on screen. Nothing was exaggerated. I would also add a performance that I thoroughly enjoyed, John Candy in "Planes, Trains and Automobiles". He makes me howl with laughter one moment and tear up the next. Beautiful!
