Thanks for this Sana. Like you said, the most important point raised here isn't the culture within the military, but the militarized culture within society as a whole that's made the average man numb to these horrors.

There's a difference between this revolution being cooked up in DC, London and Tel Aviv, and Western powers rushing to co-opt a revolution that threatens to topple a client regime. Too many people seem to view the fact that Western powers have rushed to denounce Gaddafi (relatively speaking, they didn't criticize him for several days after the uprising began) as some sort of indication that the revolution isn't clean.

Despite the many questions being thrown around about the rebels' integrity, they have demanded, clearly and repeatedly, that no foreign forces enter Libya.
