KY3 : Missouri may import Elk that have worn out their welcome in Arkansas | KY3 News, Weather, Sports - S

Yes, elk were a native species. And so were buffalo when they migrated through or wintered in some areas. Although man wasn't on that list. This isn't the 15th or 16th century. Being some of the least productive soils in the US, it is primarily utilized by grass production making cattle very important to the people and the state. Why should a gov. agency even consider introducing a species which is available due to the fact they are causing a negative impact within the state of Ark. Just because they were once here is justification?

In the Western states the elk stay at higher elevation in the mountains during the growing season, not effecting grazing or hay production. The ranches tolerate the elk when they migrate to the lower elevations for the winter. Its much easier to protect hay than a hay crop in the field. Introduced into Missouri the elk will habitat will remain in one area and the cattlemen adjoining the elk habitat will be affected continually.

Arkansas is wanting to reduce the elk herd due to the damage to private property and yet MDC is wanting to bring those big destructive animals into the state. This clearly indicates MDC doesn't care about the potential impact on private property. Its time to get the Congressmen and Senators involved.

KY3 : Teen pulled from Finley River has died | KY3 News, Weather, Sports - Springfield, MO | Local News

What happened to this young man is a tragedy. Water is actually a hostile environment for a human. Most drownings occur due to an individuals decisions. I have known grown men to make decisions in the water that didn't work. These accidents will happen every year to people of all ages. The ones that bother me is when a child ends up in the water or situation and has not been taught what he or she needs to know in order to survive the situation. Many people that know how to swim do not understand the force of water. How often do you hear of a car being swept off in a creek?

We waste more oil than many countries consume in industry and the private sector combined. Our standard of living is possible due to huge amounts of cheap oil. If we are truly concerned about the environment then we Americans should begin with conserving energy. Now that a LMRP has been secured to the riser on that well the leak will stop and the media can search for something else to report on and life in the Gulf will go on.

Crude oil is an organic substance which will be consumed by bacteria. The sea life along the coast will not vanish although could experience a change in species as the crude oil will affect the food chain. Oil in the warm environment of the Gulf will disappear much quicker than in Prince William Sound. People love to bash the oil companies which are working to supply we Americans with huge amounts of oil consumed daily. The US consumes about 25% of the world oil supply. continued...

The most productive idea is for the media to end sensationalizing this situation. The networks have convinced the public the world is coming to an end or at least the Gulf and the coastal areas will be uninhabitable and the evil oil companies are to blame. Drilling in the Gulf began in the 1940's and overall the offshore sector of the industry has a good record. Deepwater drilling is especially challenging and well control is always a priority. During drilling, the BOP is function and pressure tested in accordance to USCG regulations on a weekly basis. continued...

This is a shocking demonstration of the possible actions the local government can take against a citizen, and do so from the reaction of a dog.
