Minor point of difference, Robert.

"The federal government has now become the nation’s mortgage lender?"

Actually, the federal government has been the nation’s mortgage lender for quite some time.

Should the U.S. taxpayer be on the hook for the Clinton Democrats that looted Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac?

Uh, no.

Let's look at the alternatives: We could let the market correct itself, and undergo another Great Depression; but some might argue that this problem was created by the government, and the government has a responsibility to fix it.

There's more to it than this, but certainly something to think about.

Charlie, you've missed the point entirely.

More than a few observers have pointed out that the Battle for Nevada had a whole lot less to do with any real principles and a whole lot more to do with a few narcissistic personalities.

The Champions of Liberty the RP movement sent to St. Paul showed us EXACTLY where their priorities lie.

Did they do the right thing? Sure.

Did they do it for the right reasons? You be the judge.

Personally, I think that given the way things worked out, the great big stink Wayne Terhune and Mike Weber raised this summer turned out to be nothing more than a self-defeating PR stunt.

The August 26 deadline is for independent and third party candidates. -- Texas Election Code - Section 192.031

Since the D's and the R's nominate by convention, and those parties have each had "a nominee for a statewide office who received a number of votes equal to at least five percent of the total number of votes received by all candidates for that office," Texas Election Code Section 181.005 applies.
