Hey! I am a friend of Christie's and that is "her laugh" - kind of like her trademark... It is really fun to talk to Christie and be around her because her laugh bubbles out all of the time! Sometimes she's right in the middle of a sentence and her laugh just comes out! It always makes me smile and it's kind of contagious :)

Christie,

This is one of my favorite articles from you! I think because it resonates so much with what I was going through after my divorce. I was at a low place in my life and had just sold my business and everyone was telling me to buy a house, settle back down, get a job. But what I really wanted was to travel and start a new business - and even though I had proven multiple times before that I was capable of starting a successful business, my family and friends were still saying it was too risky and I should just get a job and have some stability!!

But I realized that those comments were their judgments and viewpoints showing up... So you can imagine their dismay when I announced that not only was I going to start a new business - but it was going to be in a field I had little knowledge of, I would have to use my own money to do it and I would have to travel around the world to do it! LOL

So I just want to give testament to what you are saying here, because in the end, I held the belief that I was capable of building an amazing business that I love - though others had differing viewpoints, mine was the one that ended up creating my reality :)

Thanks for taking the time to share your amazing knowledge and wisdom with us! I look forward to more of your posts!

Tim, I really like this approach. I think it is nice, especially for older kids as it is a way of establishing boundaries without confrontation. Thanks for this tip - I will start using it with my 9 year old!

You Are Welcome! And your post reminded me of one of my favorite quotes:

"Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living." Anais Nin

I agree, much of job as parents and educators is to UNteach... and help remind and validate the things our children are born knowing, but we have forgotten along the way.
