I see no problem with the professor's response. I went to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and was constantly amazed at the sense of entitlement possessed by Stern students. Professor Galloway isn't being a dick

This is a mighty fine restaurant you got here. It'd be a real shame if someone were to one-star it. Of course, we might be in a position to make sure that something like that don't happen anytime soon.

Ahhh the memories. Nothing like spending a weekend afternoon in the rec room in the dorm basement, playing Street Fighter while doing laundry. As long as there are people old enough to remember putting quarters into arcade cabinets, there will be a market for Street Fighter.

I played with it a bit when it came out but didn't really find a use for it. I guess I hadn't adjusted my thinking to its uses. They do need to lower the iPhone app price by about $30 at least. $50 for Wolfram|Alpha is unreasonable.

Always glad to be of service. An added bonus is that, because it's a new iPhone, you also get a charger, cable, and headset. Apple charges $29 for the charger and $29 for the headset. If you don't have a travel charger for the iPhone, now you do.

Mobile • Local • Social : Requiem For An iPhone

That assumes that the battery works. Phone + snowbank equals dead battery. It was working at 9 a.m. (four rings means the phone is on). At the time, I didn't think to use Find My iPhone because I had assumed that I had left it at home. When I got home, I tried calling it again and it went straight to voicemail (meaning phone was off or had a dead battery). I tried Find My iPhone but MobileMe said the phone was not connected to a data network.

Well, it does make a perfectly cromulent beer coaster. Nothing like the looks of horror when I put a can of macrobrew on it. And I see that you enjoy the sport of Zealot Irking. Way back, I used to go out of my way to type "I-pod" and see who would get pissy about the seeming transgression. My iPhone delivers mail to me and helps me navigate with a UI that I'm used to. Additionally, I'm unfortunately a bit entrenched in the ecosystem so leaving iPhone would mean losing quite a bit of paid software (which is by and large worth the cost). AOL had a walled garden. Apple has a street corner to push dope from.

But how are we going to incentivize the userbase in such a manner as to maximize eyeballs? If we're to monetize the content, we need to generate not just uniques but also interactivity. We cannot rely solely on a long-tail model as a revenue generator on this Web 2.0 platform.

Mobile • Local • Social : Apple: Updating Programs But Not Processors

I hear you there, brother. I see no advantage to a $1400 laptop with a Core2Duo processor when a Core i5 can be had for two-thirds of that price. Not only that, but Apple is going to have to show that it is capable of making a Core i5/i7 work with ATI. Once you factor in a new processor and a new graphics processor, there is no way I would plonk down money for a Rev.A MacBook Pro. Apple has proven that it takes several revisions and sometimes several generations before it can make new technology work in its products. If Apple announced an i5 MacBook Pro with ATI graphics to go on sale on March 1, I wouldn't buy one for at least a year.

A little from column A and a little from column B. Like I said, they really seem to be losing focus. I think they should spend less time taking on social media and spend more time keeping an eye on Microsoft. If they're not careful, Bing could begin to pick up some real steam.

I dunno. GMail is enough of a timesuck without having built-in Twitter functionality. Which it did if you ever used the i.Google portal with the Twitter add-on. Plus, as committed as I am to GMail, I'm also committed to Facebook and Twitter. I don't seen anything in here that I can't get from one of the major Twitter clients. And thanks for buzzing up the story. It's not ironic - it's meta. Pass it around and thanks for reading.
