Sorry but BOOM, too late to back track now. Please reread your comment. You ridiculed another poster who wondered who had used the logo first and stated " the university has been around a lot longer than 20 yrs" which by implication was that the university has had the logo since it's inception. You did not cite the first year the logo was used so your post reads as though you are stating that the logo is as old as the University. BOOM, not true. I wouldn't have said anything if you had not put down and been condescending to the other poster. BOOM yourself and consider yourself OWNED.

The Tiger Hawk Logo as it is today, was *first* used when Hayden Fry came to the Iowa Football program in 1979. Prior to that they just had the old Herky Hawk, I believe. The University of Iowa (founded in 1847) has been around a lot longer than the Tiger Hawk Logo. Duh yourself, qutrkez. Here's an article: http://www.hawkeyesports.com/genrel/083109aac.htm...

No. (Disclamer: the following rant has nothing to do with Justin Shmidt's accident-I have the deepest sympathies for his family) No matter who teaches them to drive, they are statistically the most reckless group on the road. Graduated licenses have helped. Lower speed limits have helped. But it is a well known fact that young people have an ingrained sense of invincibility and do not think that bad things can happen to them. We can try to legislate it out of them, but that doesn't seem to work. They still want to drive fast, talk to strangers on the computer, drink alcohol before they are psychologically ready to, have unprotected sex, take illegal drugs, etc because they only think bad things happen to other people. Even "good" kids make unbelievably bad choices sometimes. Sometimes to their peril. If *you* can figure out how to change their mindset (possibly their DNA?) so that they realize that their actions can have fatal consequences, well, that would be just great.

I can't stand the negative ads. To me, they reflect more negatively on the person whose ad it is, not on the person they are trying to malign. When *my* candidate runs a negative ad, I'm extremely disappointed in them and it really makes me wonder if they are the candidate that represents *me*. I want a campaign ad to be a commercial FOR the candidate. Tell me about you, what are your ideas, what's your experience, what do you stand for, how can you turn things around for our country. It seems strange to me that every single poll and all of the research says that voters are turned off by negative ads, yet our candidates still feel the need to run these depressing and usually misleading ads.

Big Dog, as been established many times too numerous to count, KCRG sometimes posts stories with one headline then updates it later on. Fitty's post was made obviously before the headline was made to update the womans, er, current condition. No need to be snarky.

I'm sorry that this happened. But truly, if you have lost a loved one tragically and it happens to be written up on a news website, the LAST thing you should be doing is reading through the posts. Spend time with your family doing what they need. Offer to make a meal, or watch the kids. Take a quiet walk. Go through your photos to see if you can contribute to a display at the funeral. Call some mutual friends/family to get together for drink. Visit the website of the funeral home and leave a message on the person's condolence guestbook where there will be tributes from other friends and loved ones. There are lots of positive ways to deal with grief. Reading through an anonymous chat board where people can and do discuss their opinions freely about someone/something they know nothing about (and have a perfect right to do so) does not seem in the least bit healing.

" I think that groups should come to a common ground & challenge the City on this matter"

Just a guess but I'm thinking since Tracy Barkalow and his investors weren't too helpful to the Magic Bus/Rugby Team, there is a pretty slim chance that will come to any common ground. See some of the posts on the Press Citizen site. Apparently the Rugby Club tried to work with Tracy regarding the rent and lease of the space and Tracy wouldn't even respond to their emails or phone calls then lied about it to the media.

Ummm I don't think *you* get it. The new owner seems to see dollar signs instead of Tigerhawks. He would have been happy to have the bus there if they would have coughed up the additional dough and probably would have figured out some way to have a clause wherein he got a cut of the proceeds. He bought the land purely as a money making proposition. Not much money in charitible enterprises. If you recall, at first he was all "yeah, we're going to give to charity too" to deflect the loads of bad press he was getting. Yeah right. Haven't heard too much about that lately. What's that the other poster said is going in there, Wig and Pen selling food?
