Everyone of us who belong to the 9-12 project have a similar set of beliefs. We believe in religious freedom, free speech, a free (unbiased) press, the need for a sound and strong military for the protection of the state and the right of the individual citizen to bear arms to protect himself or herself if need be. We believe that there is a God given right to freely pursue your own dreams, chart your own course and make it a goal (life liberty and the pursuit of happiness). That right however is not a guarantee. We believe in the declaration of independence and the constitution, and I think it fair to say most of us believe in a higher power who calls the shots. We believe in that which is unbelievable to a relativistic society; absolute truth, or rather; right and wrong. Our comments spur one another on and that's good,"as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." (Solomon, the book of Proverbs, circa 1250 BCE).
I believe there's so much more to the tea party protests on 4-15 than fiscal responsibility. I believe it was those of us with traditional family values were telling the Charles Schumer's of this world to sit down and shut-up, we haven't gone anywhere. I believe that Nancy Pelosi has been warned, those of us who believe people need to migrate here legally or suffer the consequences of deportation, are listening to what you say and we are not "un-American" we just expect people to play by the same rules that our ancestors had to play by. I hope Mr. Holder heard us explain that we'd rather scare information out of a terrorist than have more attacks at home or abroad. Lest anyone misunderstand, our CIA operatives trained some of these people to fight against the USSR, not so they could turn around and go after their own county-men and women and terrorize them. My how poor our memories are in the states. Ms. Napolitano, we are not domestic terrorists, but we may become a domestic nuisances if you continue insulting our veterans with your overly political answers that negate none of the offense made by insinuating that they are the most likely to be the most targeted by right wing extreme groups and perhaps become the next Tim McVey. Your "apology" was more of a justifying explanation than anything else.
So now that we've been mocked for exercising our right to peacefully assemble and protest ludicrous spending that will eventually break an already broken economy, what recourse have we left? Now that the peaceful T.E.A. party protests are being heralded as nothing more than an "astroturf" movement by the aforementioned, what recourse do we have left? I'm reminded of a guy back in the 80's and 90's, I believe his name was Robert Sherman, who made a lot of money suing fire departments, public schools and various other public buildings for displaying any religious symbols. He sued the government and won on the constitutional grounds that the government can not respect any religion,(1st amendment). Surely we must have some grounds when the government seems to have forgotten that it has been established by the people and for the people, and to secure our rights to pursue life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The right of an individual to make such pursuits is no guarantee of success and in no way states that we, by the force of our elected government, have to pay for another individual's failure to succeed. Maybe Robert Sherman was on to something? If you want to make the legislature stand up and listen, litigate. Are there any lawyers who know of the constitutionality of this proposal? If so are their any with the guts to do it?
