I beleive business owners should be able to make their own decisions about smoking in their establshments. That being said, the current smoking law is a piece of crap with government favoring some businesses over others. If smoking is to be banned in businesses, that ban should apply to all businesses. The Governor was quite pleased two years ago when he signed the best anti-smoking measure that casinos could buy. I think the timing of this is a sign of deperation on the part of the Governor and an indicator that the casinos aren't contributing to his campaign.

Part of the reason Cedar Rapids ranks well is that nobody will move if there is more than one car that appears at four way stop. Stationary vehicles don't cause accidents.

There aren't enough conservatives in D.C. and there have not been since 2008 to block anything.

What is magical about the 200,000 level for individuals and 250,000 for married couples?
Why not make it 200,000 for everybody? Better yet, if you really want to tax the institution of marriage, let's go with 150,000 for married couples. Whatever the tax rates are, citizens should be taxed on their income and not their marital status.

The Commission's problem with this issue is that the attorney did not charge a fee. Attorneys can do anything as long as they bill for it.
