Skaggs is a good hospital but it is not designated as a level one trauma center which means there is a trauma surgeon basically waiting in the ER for just such emergencies. There also is an OR suite with staff ready to take a patient to the OR 24/7. Cox is also a trauma center basically with the same services, Springfield is really blessed to have 2 fine hospitals that offer this service.
