“These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”

~~ Thomas Paine (1737-1809) ; from The Crisis, December 1776

Well, the Constitution may be incomprehensible to the MSM, but it seems that at least one or two judges still understand it!

Happy New Year, Mr. Ott! Glad to see that you, and Scrappleface, are still here, and possibly more satire coming in 2011. Must confess, I’m curious: where the heck is everybody else? When I chose my screen-name, I wasn’t hoping that it would become literally true if I just waited long enough! Ten comments posted in 4 weeks? Back in the day, there would have been more comments posted here in an afternoon! Is this the result of our new ‘civility’ policies, I wonder? As I recall, the Old Folks used to say: “If you can’t say something good about [...], don’t say anything at all.” Is that what has happened here? If this is ‘civility,’ I say, bring back angry, finger-in-your-eye, foaming-at-the-mouth partisanship!

"Short-sided"? Did you catch that?

Is that anything like "short-sheeted"?

Maybe we can ask Senator Byrd about that -

Thought for the day :

“The kind of man who wants the government to adopt and enforce his ideas is always the kind of man whose ideas are idiotic.”

Randyl2: Thumbs up!

Now my advice for those who die, (Taxman !)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (Taxman !)
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

And you're working for no one but me.

Taxman !

Ah, but wait!
You thought the last time was fun? Wait ‘til they have nukes !
Tick ... tick ... tick ...

Grandmas sit in chairs and reminisce
Boys keep chasing girls to get a kiss
The cars keep going faster all the time
Bums still cry "hey buddy, have you got a dime"

And the beat goes on, the beat goes on
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da

... and that is just a scratch on the surface: plenty more where that came from.

But for right now, it's gonna stay there.

Just exactly how that all fits in with an earthquake 219 years later is another question.
