The Wild Hunt : Ukraine Wants to Ban Psychics and other Pagan News of Note

Islam to Pagan The author wrote: "Have you thought what family will say at your death?" "I was hoping all you elders would die before me." My mother's face visibly relaxed. She even cracked a smile. "Ah, that's true. God willing." Isn't the proper Islamic response to "I was hoping all you elders would die before me." usually, 'Not if you keep this up.'

A very good point. Robin. But what about the aspects of Islam that are really just Arabic culture and social mores that are carried over? I know many of the Pacific Islamics have no where near the level of misogynistic aspects that Middle Eastern Islamics have, just to name one aspect. If you were to go back to a Pre-Mohammidan Arabic Paganism, to my thinking, they're be no guarantee of any behavioral improvement.

It was civil disobedience. Like the Boston Tea Party or Henry David Thoreau refusing to pay the poll tax or sit-in's during the Civil Rights Era. When asshat's like Scalia insist on using the Constitution as toilet paper, you've got to take it out of their hands. I don't really see it as being much different that jury nullification, which judges love so much. The old cod liver oil theory. It must be good for them because they hate it so much. ;-) It's probably better than doing a drive-by and issuing a .30 caliber recall. Though certainly not as satisfying. But that's the price of living in a civilized society.

Only if you're doing it correctly. You're still my favorite subversive. "But when Issac does it, apparently, it's okay; when Robin does it, it's a hate crime."

A monument should bring people together, not cause division and contention.
If these idiots insisting to keeping this piece of crap up had remembered that, this whole thing could have been solved simply by replacing it with something that was more in keeping with that ideal.
How many thousands of dollars have been wasted being spent on this that could have been donated to veterans causes?
There are hundreds of artists out there whould be thrilled to receive a commission to create an appropriate monument to replace this piece of crap.
This isn't even the orginal momument. It's been damaged and replaced on at least one previous occaision.

Unfortunately, in much of rural America, that's unlikely to make much of a difference. It's the same asshats that'll be running and being elected to them. If it's not, it'll be different asshats that have the same ability but are members of the other party. It took some friends of mine over a year and a half to get a zoning change for their motel, because the idiot in charge would not come and do the inspection. Whenever he was called on it, he claimed he'd come and no one was there. "These offices really need to be elected positions."

If I recall correctly, I read somewhere the cross is/was made out of pipe. Scrap steel is going for about $0.15 a pound, so it isn't worth the price of the fuel it took to drive up there and haul it back to anywhere you could sell it.
I highly doubt it was a financially motivated act.

The Wild Hunt : A Bit About Bones

You know, I wish talking to her would have a chance of accomplishing something. Frankly I doubt it would. The same thing with calling her out in the scene. Let's just say the scene isn't what it used to be when I first got involved publicly twenty years ago. There'd be people now who'd admire her for screwing over her submissive. Thirty five years ago, before my time, but I have friends who were active back then, she probably be banned or shunned from the scene. I've heard stories about dominants who didn't respect safe words being grabbed by other dominants and being given a crash course in 'The other end of the whip 101" Another problem with talking is she'd probably cop an attitude with me. I'd get pissed off and do something like duct taping her to a chair and shaving her head bald. It'd be fun but wouldn't be worth the hassle it'd bring me. The scene is a lot like the Pagan community. So many people have joined that there's a flood of people who don't have clue what it means and that they can do anything they want to. It sucks when you start to get old enough that the hassle of finding places to hide the bodies starts to outweigh the need to kill those who need killing. I'm starting to think The Who were right about hoping to die before you get old. That's the other thing, given the state of the Pagan community, I'm not sure if the idea that they've tied themselves to this dishonest bitch and her actions impact on them would register.

On a serious note, this seems like a good thread to broach this subject. Since everyone here is damn opinionated and isn't shy about offering their opinion. I'd like to get opinions on this. I know a High Priestess of a Local Wiccan group who is also a dominatrix. A while back she decided to quit, I think she was getting married, decided to dismiss all her submissives/slaves. Her decision. However, she had made the promise to one of them, who happens to be a scene friend of mine, that if she did, she'd help him find another mistress. She reneged on her promise and when she was asked by him to keep her word, she responded by telling him ' to find his own mistress' and then hanging up on him. Evidently, the relationship didn't work out and she's back in the scene. I'm sorely tempted to call her out publically in the Pagan community as an oath breaker on general principle and on the basis that people who are tied to her as a group are also tarred by her dishonor spiritually.

Please! Who would want to watch a show featuring people with dubious fashion sense and even more tasteless body art drunkenly lurching around? The only thing worse would be for them to be authentically skyclad. That would be more like the Macy's parade on a windy Thanksgiving. Speed it up by 10% and put a Benny Hill silly sound track to it.
