Why do they need an increase?

Tacky, insensitive, disgusting, and in bad taste....which is (of course) why they did it... I fear we may be encouraging bad behavior by Oggi and others.

You provide a fairly complex root cause for what happened to Meredith and Amanda. What do they say "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". Maybe over time you will be proven right. There are other theories. I just finished a book that speculated that Rudi was a paid police informant and that this whole mess was created to reduce his sentence so he wouldn't divulge that fact and embarrass the police...because that is all they have.

I tend to keep things simpler. Police under a lot of pressure mistakenly arrest three people for the crime. They are embarrassed because they have to release Patrick. They can’t be embarrassed twice. With careers in the balance and a “gut feeling”, they proceed to build a case based on unreliable witnesses, no coherent motive, contaminated evidence, some bad science, factual errors, and character assassination. The objective is to convince the jury using a "mountain of evidence", the prestige of the Police & Prosecutors, and (admittedly) Magnini's charisma.

Interesting article. Magnini: "Amanda might theoretically have instigated the murder while even staying in the other room" Yet another theory with no evidence or motive. Now the bra clasp is gone so no Raffaele in the room either.

Now Comodi "Today's decision could lead one to think that there is more of a possibility that they be set freed," You think? She also said "I am convinced by what I have said. I am fully convinced of their guilt and I would find it very serious if they were set free." With no coherent story and evidence to back it up I would think it would be very serious for her career.

This must be something new because wiki-leaks indicates Knox did not get that much diplomatic assistance.

Excellent summary and almost everything you stated is consistent with what I have read however, somehow I missed the Mignini concession....can you provide a link? Thanks

Don't forget that the forensic examination of the knife performed earlier this year found starch on the knife ....so they missed that too.

"It is extremely difficult to understand how the results, which were obtained with great care and presented in the first trial as valid, could now be regarded as irrelevant." ...obviously she didn't watch the same police crime scene video I did.

CNN: She (Stephanie) urged the public to remember the blood-splattered crime scene as well as 10,000 pages of evidence presented in the case. What if it is 10,000 pages of bad data?

Regardless, I still haven't seen a logical chain of events backed by reliable data that has Amanda and Raffaele stabbing Meredith. Most of these people pushing for guilty seem to love broad strokes but don't want to talk details. No one has been able to explain to me how Amanda and Raffaele attacked Meredith with knives, didn't get scratched or injured with Meredith attempting to block the knives with her hands, and didn't leave any DNA at the murder scene. Rudi, however, did have cuts on his hand and left lots of DNA at the murder scene.

My frustration with this “system” is that we are forced to buy gas at spot price. The smallest problem anywhere on the plant causes gasoline to immediately to rise even though the fuel we are buying today has been through the supply chain. I notice too that prices are a lot slower to drop when the crisis subsides. The old story that used to be told was that summer demand drove higher prices so that gas prices would creep up near Memorial Day. Now, you can’t get through April before prices shoot up. It’s like grade inflation.

How about this: We admit that we live in a market economy and forget about price controls. To combat these short-term fluctuations, allow individuals to lock in the price of gas (before the spike) by buying in bulk and specifying a delivery rate. This way you could reduce the amount of gas purchased at spot price. Yes, I know this isn’t a silver bullet that helps everyone (and I don’t know if there is one) but it would provide another tool to manage risk…. and so would a Prius.
