there are too many laid off attorneys for you to really be worried that you're blacklisted unless you did something outrageous...even then, it's still questionable. Temp agencies, on the other hand, enjoy blacklisting people (I've blacklisted myself with Update Legal and it was fun doing it)

yeah, I expected more. my best friend growing up named his cat after Logan/Wolverine. that was almost as blasphemous as the movie was to the original X-Men comics.

that's true, that's why junior monkeys should milk BigLaw as much as they can, run up their expense account, sleep with summer associates, and raid the supplies closet. Got to get your giggles in some how if you're not actually getting anything substantive while you're sitting in a little room and trying to look busy even though you're really just gchatting, hanging out on facebook, and reading the super duper informative Law Shucks blog and its super duper entertaining Laid Off Diary.

I think lawyers aren't used to being honest...especially to themselves!

thanks for taking the time to read my post AND compare and contrast it to another writer AND also to comment. I'm sure it was time well spent. I really appreciate your taking the time to do this during what I know must be an extremely busy day of billing (I mean, sticking gerbils up your ass). Besos!

Well, sure, if you don't produce, you should get the boot... but if you do produce, you should at least have some job security--where in BigLaw you don't. Also, BigLaw work distribution should ensure that it's at least fair to all associates as this would cut down on backstabbing and unproductive competition. Some competition is good, but this squabbling that goes on at most BigLaw firms is not.
