OK, jrcMT and sallietoo, you both have it wrong. Glenn Beck has created this 9.12 site and invites us to use it to share our frustrations, anger and ideas. He hasn't said that you can't vent about Obama. But he has said it's bigger than that. Don't you remember what it was like on 9.12 or have you already forgotten? We weren't about party we were about people. You are not the only ones on here getting caught up in party politics and I understand that. Until I went to CPAC I thought I was a Republican but now I know I'm a libertarian or conservative and I understand the difference. I'm currently reading Ron Paul's "The Revolution" and understanding more and more what the founders set before us. PLEASE, get your collective heads out of your butts and read, read, read, and finally know what you stand for. Then come back here and contribute your ideas. We don't need anyone bashing our host, Glenn Beck. He didn't need to provide this site. The teaparties are, of course, your events. He's just stating that he won't be attending or lending support because he doesn't make it about party. Everyone is to blame, most importantly, we, the people, for getting us to this point! Get your facts before you criticize. And calm down. In our frustration and excitement to "DO SOMETHING" we're starting to "eat our own." Not a very productive way to begin a war.

He has to move fast to accomplish his task set for him by George Soros and Moveon.org. He needs to finish before we can gather ourselves to stop him. Time to get out the tar and feathers! Ride 'em all out on a rail! Seriously, I think pressure on ALL congressmen, regardless whether they represent you or not, will be our first step. I think the march on Washington on July 4th should be the deadline for expecting results from that. If that fails, and it may, then pressure your governor to look into States' Rights and rejecting the stimulus bill and the presumption of the federal government that it can dictate to us. Government is there to protect us and when the feds fail then we turn to the state to protect us from the fed. When that fails then, gentlemen, get out your guns because it's Par-tea time! The people WILL be free! BTW, watch the video on this site describing the difference between democracy and a republic. It's very well done! And Chuckie, and any others lurking on our site, please think about what you're doing to this country. You can't really want the country to fail...really. It's one of the last places on earth where you can still speak your mind and associate freely. When you take that away from us you will lose it, too. This is not some game to get attention. And if you really believe Obama that most of the American people will not have to pay taxes then, sir, we've wasted our tax dollars on your public education. You are among the most naive and ignorant and I feel sorry for you for you know not what you're doing. But we will not feel sorry for long because we will fight for our rights and liberty as long as there's one soldier or one old marine left to fight.

It seems everyone on here would rather fling insults and whine than find constructive solutions to the problems we all are facing. I recommend inviting a few friends, family, or neighbors over, pop open the beer, and have fun. Take time to enjoy yourselves and quit letting these liberals annoy you. Certainly you have better things to do than indulge an obviously lonely kid who has nothing better to do than push your buttons. He's like a bully and you're playing his game, dancing on his string for him. Go have a beer and chill! We have bigger things to do than indulge these children who are only looking for attention.

Hi, Chuckflynn

I have a serious question and am not intending to flame you at all. This comment you've made isn't really all that inflammatory so I guess you've made other comments that have angered people. But I really want to know since you appear to be from the "opposition" whether you favor what we see coming in this country, ie. socialism? Or is this just a "gotcha" moment for those who have felt victimized for who-knows-why and it's payback time? I can understand anger at perceived abuse. Is this "get whitey and the rich folks" time?

I'm really trying to understand where someone like you is coming from. A young college student I know is thrilled with the president because he really wants communism in this country. But he is so full of hate and rage. He's a rich white kid and he's angry. Why? He really wants this country to fail and he's a product of Catholic schools. What is the influence that eats at our young people that makes them want to destroy what their ancestors have built? Is the rage of the professors and entertainers so easily transferred to these kids that reality is no longer visible to them?

I really think a dialogue amongst ourselves about what's making us so angry would be helpful. I served in the Army for 29 years and now I look at my service and wonder what it was all about. I'm proud to have served my country but I don't want to blindly serve a Congress like we have now. And I'll not encourage any of my kids to serve either. I do believe in defending my country, family and myself but I'm not so sure about spending money and lives to fight someone half a world away. I have to ask myself, why do they hate us so?

I know I'm treading on thin ice with some "love it or leave it" people on here, but we can't heal the nation if we don't examine what it is we really believe and be honest with the answers. I bet most of us are more non-interventionist that we would imagine. We don't want a nation Balkanized by hate and fear of each other. We must come together and convince the rest of the country that the way we're heading right now is wrong. But this is a path we've been on for a very long time indeed. Let's not get put in the position of having to defend the person we voted for and instead finally admit that the nation, as a whole, has been failing for a very long time and it's time to put it right.

I think we here at the 9.12 project, believe that giving everyone their freedom back...freedom to succeed and freedom to fail...and the responsibility for themselves and their family...is the way to a better life for everyone and is what made this country great over two hundred years ago and made it the beacon of hope for millions of people around the world. Ronald Reagan was right and didn't have to go to war to prove it. We're all of us interested in just being left alone to enjoy the fruits of our labor and to live in peace. That should be enough for anyone!

People should just show up. These concerns are due to the litigiousness of our society. The Constitution says we have the right and so we do. If the mayor has concerns about the safety and all then that's his problem. We aren't asking for protections and insurance. We just want our voices heard and no one can stop that for any reason...ANY REASON!

We aren't asking for permission, just giving notice that the rally will occur. What the mayor feels he has to do with that information is his problem. I feel it's just a courtesy to inform the city and really not necessary according to our Constitutional rights.

As Glenn Beck said, tho, both republicans and democrats are playing the game, within millimeters of each other and here we are, arguing with fellow Americans, over silly things like "Bush did this" "Yeah, well, Clinton did that" and where does it get us? We are all, democrats and republicans and independents, being taken advantage of here. The people in charge right now are "none of the above." They are socialists bordering on communism. They are everyone's enemy. BUT PLEASE can't we just listen to each other????? jchico seems to have very strong feelings. Now maybe (s)he just wants to screw with us and get us irritated. It may be a function of certain members of the other side to piss us off so bad we make real stupid errors. We can't let that happen.

But don't defend things that aren't worth defending, either. Our government has NO BUSINESS doing about 75% of what it does and both parties are responsible. Let's get down to much smaller government since it's evidently too large for anyone to run it competently and then we can argue details. BTW, the showers are actually electrocuting soldiers because of a faulty hookup. That's not a good thing. But our soldiers were poorly equipped when we entered the war because Congress under Clinton cut the forces drastically and refused to pay for training and equipment. Many units were having to dismantle vehicles for parts in order to get others running and then lied on their reports that they were a fully functional unit.

Read your Constitution. Article I, Section 12 states that Congress shall have the power to raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years. I believe the intent was for each State to maintain a militia as they wished but that the Congress could only raise an Army for the purpose of a war that THEY declared. And for only two years at a time. Congress is responsible for funding that Army. So let's all take a deep breath and read the Constitution...I finally did just recently... and try to understand the rules before we point fingers at each other for doing something wrong or bad. Let's all get on the same sheet of music and figure this out for the good of everyone...in freedom!

You're right,  we need to be heard.  When then?

Project Red Dawn at noon on July 4th on the steps of Congress. Bring your signs and be prepared to stand up for your liberty. I will be there...join me. Don't let me stand alone.

I think our first effort is aimed at convincing Congress to listen to reason. If that fails, we petition our individual states to assert states' rights. That means that the states stand against the federal government and it's unconstitutional activities. The states must refuse to be party to the bailouts and turn the money back. They must also refuse to comply with any of the many spending programs being proposed and cut back on programs they're already participating in. The people give the power to the federal government AND the states and they must comply with the constitution. If some states refuse then we find the states that will and join them in secession. We will force the feds to comply with their duty to "uphold and defend" just as you and I swore to do or we will declare them null and void and the states will force them from office. Finally, when 2010 comes we "clean House" and vote all of them out replacing all representatives with new, constitution-believing men and women. Currently I'm reading Ron Paul's "The Revolution" and it's excellent...I highly recommend it. I had no idea I was a libertarian! All these years I was defending Republican officeholders not realizing there was a viable option for freedom. I also attended the CPAC meeting where Rush Limbaugh spoke and it was eye-opening! It crystallized a lot of what was in my mind. Now I KNOW what I believe and can defend it ... without a teleprompter! Semper Fi and thanks for your service!
