I tried posting earlier about some views on welfare reform, but was not able to post, so I'm trying again.

1) Mandatory community service for those people who are able to work, but are not. many(not all) have not been in the work force for a long time. This would give them a current reference, and may motivate them to go out and try to get a paying job.
2) All those that are able to work be required to put in "x" amount of applications per week
3) Decline payments for emergency room visits when the condition could have waited to be treated by a doctor.
4) Co-pays for adults who are not disabled.
6) Reasonable caps on rent for public housing so people can actually save money to move out(I had to stop paying my rent and get evicted to save money)
7) Time limit to live in public housing after cap has been reached.
8) Adults without H.S. diploma must complete GED course within a given amount of time to be able to contiue to receive aid for themselves.

Before I get started on my vent about welfare reform, I would like to say that I am a former welfare recipient. I was in the system, and caught up in the life style for several years before I got out. It wasn't until I got out that I slowly started to realize that someone else was paying for my family. I have a few things that I would like to see changed with the welfare system, but they said my post was too long. So, I need to put it in another post.

Ok it is not letting me post my other comment, don't know what is going on. I'll try again later.

Listening to all the statics about uninsured americans, it makes me wonder, how much do those families pay for cable, internet or cell phones. Would they be able to give up a luxury or two to take care of the needs of their family? I know my family qualifies for Medicaid, but I do not want to give up my ability to be able to choose the Dr. I want, or to have to sacrifice the quality of care we get, it is just not worth it to me. I would much rather cut cost in my budget somewhere else. I would love to see people that are healthy and able to work being kicked off of some of these government programs so the money can go where it is really needed, to the disabled who cannot work, and our veterans who have sacrificed so much for this country, and of course to the children it is not their fault that their parents are not able or not willing to provide them with coverage. Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy.

As a parent, I find this all very disturbing. As long as children are getting a good education at home, then they should be allowed to learn at home. I have recently saw something on TV about the UN's Child Bill of Rights, that states a child should have the freedom of religion. People are constantly saying that we should be teaching our values to our children at home, and then the same people are taking away our ability to do so.

That would be tempting, but I think it would be more important to stay in my country and fight to take it back, than to run and start over somewhere else.

Absolutely! It is really easy to look the other way, when it's "just one little thing," but it is hard to ignore when it is a bunch of things all at once. Who knows how long we would have just let things go on if things changed little by little. So, one way to look at it is Obama has done one good thing for this country, he woke us up! I don't think I can ever go back to living in my little bubble again. I was content to sit back and let someone make decisions for me, but never again.

Unless they got fired for a drug related incident. I don't see any reason for this. You can't get unemployment unless you were working to begin with, and like it or not if they meet the requierments to receive unemployment they have just as much right to collect as I would to collect. Lets face it "Junkies" do not usually keep a job long enough to be eligable for unemployment.

An intersting thought, just make sure that the innocent, and children are taken care of first.

If I follow the goverments lead and run my houshold finances the way the govement is is runing our country's. I think I would be in some serious trouble, and most certianly a waiting trial on conterfiting charges, for printing money that is worthless.

Unfortunately, I think the media has taken care of this. It's a shame though, I really liked her, I think she had a lot to learn, but she had 4 years to do it. It think it was awful how the liberals used her daughters pregnancy to try to discredit her. These are the same people who try to take away our rights as parents, and then point to Sarah and say she can't even control her own daughter how can she run our country. If she does run I will give serious consideration to voting for her.
