Those who post critical comments of Islam here are so often branded as racists. Interesting that such "racists" would be so concerned about the welfare of this young girl from Sri Lanka. It is time the critics realized that it is the violent, intolerant, archaic belief system of so much of Islam that we are against. "Race" has nothing, nothing at all to do with it.
I am not religious, but must admire this girls' courage and her true, non-hypocritical faith. If they kill her she will be a true martyr, unlike the undeserving murderers many Muslims call by that term. But please, if there is any honor, or sense, or law left in this country, it cannot, and must not come to that. There needs to be a new "underground railroad" established to help these courageous souls. If the churches want to do something truly courageous and righteous, I can think of nothing which would be more so than to help people in Rifqa's predicament.
And just how many times did Mehsud play with peoples' mental anguish after murdering their loved ones? Spare me. And, the more Islamic illiteracy to "Kufr" science the better. A seventh century world will not be able to withstand a 21st century one- at least when the time comes that the 21st century one finally decides to play rough.
As Bin Laden has said, "You love life, we love death. Happy to oblige.

Just last night I spoke with a friend of mine. He converted to Islam a few years ago, and then rejected it. For a number of years he was very devout. Last night he told me that he was very disillusioned with Islam. He believed at first that it was a tolerant religion. But, even though the mosque he belonged to was supposedly moderate, he told me no one agreed with him on any subjects where he believed tolerance was needed. Also, he became tired of THE JEWS being blamed for EVERYTHING. Just one story, anecdotal of course, but it is what he experienced.
When the Taliban uses civilians as shields, and are instructed to do so by their leaders hoping for a P.R. coup after the resulting civilian deaths from an air strike, what ARE you to think? When Al Qaeda plants bombs in Shia mosques, hoping to create civil war (the more blood the better) what ARE you to think? When children are recruited to strap on suicide belts to blow up civilians in markets, what ARE you to think? I could go on and on. When Bin Laden says "you love life, we love death" just what ARE you to think? I take him at his word. I am sure he knows the Muslim mind-set better than I do. I know what I think.
I am sure that is true, but not where I live. My point is, they may still be around, but eroding public support has weakened them. Not so with many Islamic terrorist groups and their support base in much of the Islamic population in various parts of the world.
I would also like to say to Gerbil Tea that I appreciate your retaining your civility in this discussion, although you are admittedly out-numbered. You seem like one who has a desire to remain tolerant. There are other religions which in practice are generally much more tolerant than Islam. The Quakers, for instance, would seem a better fit for your personality. I am not trying to be funny, but you might want to give it a thought.
What you say is true, of course about the KKK. However, I have lived in the American South for 35 years, and have never to my knowledge met an active member of the KKK nor heard of any local activities, although I know they still exist elsewhere. They were once powerful, but are now a disgraced fringe group, and are thought of as such even by most conservative southerners. When they had a large power -base of sympathetic citizens, they maintained their influence. Once that power base was gone, they have since become impotent as a movement. I would say that the same is true for Islamic terrorist groups. They remain powerful and influential because there is considerable support among the Islamic populations where they operate. They could not remain so without the support of a considerable percentage of the population.
