The best role model should be their parents! Not some goofball on TV, people need to be responsible for themselves and their own family. Quit letting someone else raise them.

This renewed conservatism "wrath" is going to derail the Tea Party movement. I may be against the Progressive movement but that doesn't mean I'm ready for a theocracy....

The man swore, the world isn't going to end. Worry about yourself and educate YOUR children that swearing is wrong.

Let's face facts. The one thing that is destroying our country is the NEED (willingness?!?) to conform to some subjective standard that is ill-defined and subject to a minorities grandiose plan to control the masses. When we began giving up our individual liberties for the greater good, we began our decent into the quagmire of today. Is it wrong to want to help your neighbor? No! Is wrong to dictate that I help my neighbor? Yes.

The real question is, to me at least, is when can a person 'handle the truth'. Certainly not at elementary level and I would even make a case not at the collegiate level (there is no real world experience). Pointing out that our Founding Fathers were flawed is, well, self evident. Look at what some of our most respected statemen and celebrities get into today. Are they special? No! They are just under a microscope, in a culture, where there is never a enough dirt and everything is realtime. Challenging the idea that our culture/identity in the United States is not a problem for some, because we can handle it and maybe even provide some lessons learned. Unfortunately, most can not, whether they are not mentally acute, apethetic, or close minded. There are people who would take advantage of the latter case, manipulating the information in presentation to convince them that WE have to CONFORM to an IDEAL, that NO ONE has ever been able to accomplish (this works for both political parties by the way).

Why play the liberal game of name calling? He (Mr_Tyzik) has not resorted to any and has been fairly reserved in responses. The whole point of the comments is to post thoughts and read what others are thinking. If you would rather just here your own ideas regurgitated don't read what other's post.

Tyzik has some valid points that history books of the past, say 20 years ago, tend to highlight the positive and not the dirty little secrets. We could have an endless debate about patriotism, nationalism, (name an -ism), ect and its importance to a nation's identity and preservation.

Agreed with the exception of 5 and 15. Limiting or excluding people is chink in the "armor" that liberal/progressives go for. When you start excluding someone because they don't believe how you do, then you create a point of contention that gets attacked. That point of contention then will be pushed beyond what most reasonable people would agree to.

Think about it. Would we have some of the extreme issues being debated today about separation of church/state and marriage, if people would have been reasonable (oxy-moron I know) and would have agreed to "a moment of silence" or civil unions when first questioned.

Or how about this...if someone said, you could have everything but those two things, would YOU being willing to compromise? If WE don't start compromising, WE lose and the radicals win.
