After reading this I had to check the author's bio....was surprised to find he's NOT a 13 year old boy.

"Screw stories about PEOPLE, man! More violence! More action! Screw all that boring crap that makes you actually interested in the characters that might allow these shows to keep anyones attention for more than a season. That stuff's lame!!"

All that "boring" stuff is the only thing that makes Walking Dead worthy of being a multiple season series as apposed to an 87 minute straight to DVD monster movie.

As for the alleged fascism in Terra Nova...until they get an actually civilization up and thriving and expanding, things being run the way they are is about all that could possible keep people and the dream alive.

Wow...what a reach. I see actual political speechifying in movies and tv shows all the time, it jumps right out at you. But in the case it genuinely seems the writer was desperate for something to bitch about.

If you weren't so eager to be a troll you'd realize you're talking out your butt. I don't like the show (I did actually watch it for a while for the music) and I don't agree with a lot of the themes but you can't deny (or maybe you can if you're hateful enough) that the messages the writer alludes to... the ones about racism, sexism, bullying, etc... are good messages.

Your "lockstep" comment is just troll-spew. You're a behaving the fool.

And as for the anti-conservative messages (which are NOT the ones she used as examples) they have had plenty of attention from other people. This particular issue is one that is close to her...and myself and many others...so this is the one she sought to address. She has a wonderful adopted baby to raise, she doesn't have time to hang around hating EVERYTHING, that's why we have trolls like you.

I didn't bother to read your entire reply, there was no need. The first few lines told me all I needed to know. You're not talking about MODERN adoption, you're talking about the way adoption USED to be. Hello and welcome to the present. Don't lay YOUR baggage on us.

If you choose to focus on the grief, that's your pathetic choice. Don't piss on other people's happiness because you're weak.

First, all the comments about just turn the channel and the like... way to miss the point.

In modern adoption it is very very very rare for birth parents to be able to take the child back after a certain period. I would say these days the only way that could likely happen is if the adoption were illegal in the first place.

People have responded to the LA Times article with stories of their adopted teens worrying their birth parents could come to take them away. This show making this seem like a common possibility doesn't help anyone. Why is it "silly" (to use noncompous' term) to want to ease those fears as well as the fears of those thinking about adopting and those thinking about adoption as a future for children they can't take care of.

It's not about hating Glee or wanting them to stop the story. It's simply about trying to get them to say "Hey, this is just a fictional drama, for more information on the truth about adoption in your state contact your local blah, blah, blah...."

Wow, it's getting about as bad reading reviews on Big Hollywood about any movie that could or should have even a hint of conservatism or traditional values as it is to read liberal movie reviews gushing about the awesomeness of the latest America-bashing, Military is bad Matt Damon celluloid turd.

WTH do you people want out of a movie these days? Maybe if you weren't so wrapped up in you cape of conservatism and wielding your sword of reviewer snark maybe someday you can see a movie with good solid American characters and massages and at least admit it instead of comparing it to some imaginary perfect rightwing blockbuster in your head.

I went in to is expecting to be disappointed, this was the most important comic book movie to me, but was pleasantly surprised but most of the reviewers around here seem to have gone into it looking for something to gripe about and whether your vision was so filtered by that or you just couldn't bear to NOT trash it and so you just stretched minor weaknesses into huge faults to serve your purpose, you got what you wanted.

Read some comments from the producer of the show when they announced they were looking for someone for this part. He laid it on pretty thick about how they were adding this character to give the conservative, traditional part of their audience a character to identify with. I thought, wow, maybe someone in Whoreywood is finally getting it. Nope. It's just another way to slap us in the face while smiling and telling us they love us.

It may have been pointed out, I haven't read all the replies, but while the racist dirtbags are southerners.... so are most of the good guys. Rick and his wife, his cop partner, etc. It takes place in Georgia, there will be a lotta southerners of all stripes.

And it's pretty standard to create conflict in these survival stories (drives me nut too... why didn't they throw that jerk off the ship on Stargate Universe before he could kill people?!?!) by throwing together "decent folks" with wife beaters and perverts and racists... because they're a part of society and reflect the culture at large to some degree. And you can jump right in to the conflict without spending three episodes building the backstory between people... or worse spending one episode jamming it in at the cost of any kind of real storytelling.

For a show that's got a "season" of only handful of episodes, this seems like a logical path to take.
