I've experienced some problems as well while requiring external wordpress files and I'm aware that is a weak part of the code. Calling that file is actually not "necessary" but very confortable and safe because it lets you manage mySql injection with WP pre-defined functions. I think that working on a work-around for this would take much longer than re-architecting the entire plugin to be independent. So I'm working ,on my lately very small free-time, to make Dregister more flexible and independent, and I thank you for your smart suggestions.
