I'm hoping it stays number one at the box office this weekend. Tell your friends (I have told mine) that this is a film very much worth seeing. I took my 14-year-old with me, and we both loved it!

This is why they are STILL terrified of Sarah -- and want to utterly destroy her with their lies and disinformation before she can do any more damage to the progressive cause.

We miss you Andrew!

"Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. ... When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. ... If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. ... When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time ... Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." --The Teaching of Tecumseh

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Crossing the Bar

Ah, yes. The near-totalitarian conformity of the non-conformists. :)

Somehow (and by that, I mean largely through the efforts of Hollywood) our society has made eternal adolescence the highest ideal. As such, the need to be "different" -- but just like every other teenager who is "different" -- has replaced the need to grow up and be a responsible adult.

I especially love how so many so-called non-conformists demand that everyone else support them in their non-conformity from cradle to grave. It must be nice to live in a utopia where they can be the new plantation lords.

Um, it's actually not "already in the black." Shooting budget versus raw box office isn't an accurate measure.

Other than that, some good points in the article.

One of the bad guys is a smuggler who is a Russian of Jewish extraction helping a Muslim terrorist. It's played as a strange, surprising and atypical thing in the movie -- if anything it is the opposite of antisemitic, as the implication is that this guy is a traitor to other Jews.

Debbie Schlussel may or may not be crazy (I've never read her stuff, but if Black_Lib thinks she is crazy, I'd lean toward her NOT being crazy), but she IS dead wrong about this one. We all have hot buttons, and it seems one of hers caused her to entirely miss the whole point of this movie.

Let me be clear about what Ms. Shlussel missed: the bad guy in question is clearly portrayed as not typical.

... I just jumped over to her blog to see what she was saying. It's too bad that she is writing the same sorts of things the lefty critics are about this film being Hitlarian propaganda. It's obvious she has little else in common with them.
