I think the only reason it even dipped as low as it did is because of the BS loans that the government should have had some control over in the first place. The 90's were wonderful so we were due for a fall, but corrupt companies amplified it. Obviously people shouldn't spend frivolously, but investors should realize that there are still safe places to invest and should have more control over their investments rather than leaving it all to their stock brokers who are frightened of being fired.
